He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto (1969) and has dedicated decades to education, healing, and international development. He became a Reiki Master in 1996 and was an active board member of the Reiki Alliance from 2003-2009. He currently serves on the Reiki Home Council, offering his guidance and wisdom.

We thought about cancelling but we're so enthusiastic about sharing with the community about this theme we decided to get creative and came up with the idea of offering online as well as in person. The sessions will be based around the online event, with participants who have gathered in person able to access this and practice together. The in person part will still be held in Switzerland with Johannes Reindl - Lineage Bearer Usui Shiki Ryoho present.

I am currently working with a great team from Reiki Council member organisations to review the Reiki Practitioner verification process - for those who wish to have their professionalism giving Reiki treatments recognised and have the option to join the national Reiki register held by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council - CNHC. We had another great meeting yesterday, delving into the value of being verified for practitioners. We recognised that it's about more than having a quality assurance stamp - it also supports practitioners working with the public to deepen their practice and gain support and confidence.

Interesting

Over the course of the last year or so, I have been asked many times for my take on the recent claim that the true founder of Reiki was not Mikao Usui (left) but rather the Christian pastor and politician Tokio Yokoi (right), and that "Mikao Usui" may actually have been a pseudonym for Yokoi or Yokoi's cousin Kenjirō Tokutomi (center). After spending time reading the two books that make this claim and considering the evidence offered to support this hypothesis, I have concluded that the evidence for Mikao Usui as Reiki’s founder far outweighs the evidence offered for Yokoi, and it is most likely that Yokoi had nothing to do with Reiki’s founding.
