I'm sorry for being late posting this week's post about the sacral chakra! What a fascinating journey it has been, filing all about the physical aspects of sacral chakra dis-ease, then thinking about oils to support those pivotal ones to heal. Thinking about the sacral chakra oils for the emotions with Adam, and then I sunk down in the Red Tent and thought about some bee wisdom to go with the spirital aspects of the oils. So many ways to look at the same set of information. I have loved it. There are five videos in the post, something for everyone. I hope that you will watch, like and share :)

Creating this week's content about essential oils for sacral chakra work sent me down a research rabbit hole that completely shifted how I understand this energy center. What started as planning a few aromatherapy videos became a fascinating investigation into what these teachings actually meant bef...

Thank you all so much for the warm reception you have given my Essential Oils for the Root Chakra video. I found it really intriguing to make thinking about nuances of root chakra issues that I wouldn't have thought of, when I first learned this thirty years ago. The root chakra pertains to how secure we feel, and at home we feel with ourselves.. So now I have spent time with people who have dealt with trauma, with abuse, who have refugee status, or have been persecuted because of their heritage or sexulaity. So many reason to feel scared, all being parsed through one set of organs, one energy centre and of course through the nervous system.

I'd love to know, do you use the chakras in your practice?

Q: Who is hosting this discussion on essential oils for the root chakra?A: Hi, I’m Elizabeth Ashley—also known as The Secret Healer. As a clinical aromathera...

Adam and I had a lovely time this week. We were joined by the fabulous Angela Sidlo, who brought such an amazing dimension to our conversation about the Japanese Cedars - Sugi, Hinoki and Hiba Wood. (They are not cedars btw!)

Angela brought fantastic wisdom about how to use accupressure points to really supercharge their effects. And if you are not interested in unusual essential oils, or accupressure, you still need to tune in to see her gorgeous wall paper. Please like, comment and subscribe, they all help our algorithm :)

Do you ever have it when you've watched something, or read something, and thought....that just changed my world?

It's very meta, that this video is about that, but also DID that for me today.

I've not found writing easy lately. I have so many concepts running round my head, but then speed through AI scuppers me, I think, "ask AI to write it". It will be quicker, but when I do it never quite says what I want it to say. It's not done my confidence a great deal of good.

And yet when I listened to Alan Moore this morning, he reminded me where my words live. How they have magic that despite being engineered that way, AI can't conjure...yet.

I love his advice pictured through the suits of the Tarot, and as I saw the suits in my head, a thought formed...that I could see a whole essential oil framework for writing emerging.

In particular, I was gripped by his description of how swords are incisive thoughts that help you determine the structure and intelligence if an idea. I could almost feel spearmint touching my shoulder.

Discs. About the material world. Money yes, but also just how things work. Geranium and ginger seemed to call.

Cups, the emotions, but also the characters, human nature...the call to know thyself as much as you seek to understand your characters to bring them alive in your tales. Compassion, which for me, feels lik it might be rose and h**p.

And lastly, the greatest. The wands. Those that exert their actions through will. How do we refine, direct and assert our will...not least to see a project through to completion?

For me, that has got to be fennel. With its ability to push, push, push through even when stamina is all but gone.

And look!

Thank you Alan...You broke my curse...it looks like I may indeed be finally writing.

Do watch this video. You will love it.

I'd love to hear you thoughts about oils that affect willpower.

I am not a Catholic. I consider myself to be a pantheist, believing that all religions have truth to offer. Nevertheless I am devastated to see the news that the Pope has died. I had so hoped he would survive the pneumonia he had been suffering. He seemed to me the last beacon of compassion and kindness in these ugly times. Well then, it remains to those of us to be better then, to shine more brightly in the dark. Fare thee well Pope Francis, travel gently through the night. You taught me so much. I feel your loss like a dagger in my heart.

Did you know Melissa can help you mentally process maths?

In the Uk, April 1st is the beginning of our new tax year. So if you are interested in improving your financial accounting this year...you might want to enlist some Melissa officinalis as an ally.

This extract is taken from my book about the plant. I mention "our Dave" who is David O Kennedy and his team at Newcastle University in the UK. My the time we get to this section of the book I have cited so much of his team's incredible work into how this and other plants affect psychology, especially for dementia, I felt we had become friends.

The passage reads:
DISS (Defined Intensity Stressor Simulation) tests a person’s cognitive load by giving the subject several things to think about at once, to see if that affects their ability to recall them.

In 2004, Kennedy and his team, or “our Dave” as I’ve now come to call him, subjected his next team of 18 hearty volunteers to a barrage of four things to think about. This time the tests were done twice, again with a 7 day washout period between. Again, a standardised extract, not an essential oil, and taken orally at 300mg and 600mg.

At 600mg, the Melissa reduced the negative mood caused by the barrage of questions of the DISS. The Bond Lade scale show significantly increased self-reporting of feeling calm and reduced levels of being alert. So, that sounds sleepy to me, but at the reduced amount – the 300mg, there was some really exciting stuff going on with the mathematic processing.

Not only were subjects calculating faster, but also their results were just as accurate as they had been before they took the lemon balm. So, their brains were just as on the ball as they had been, even though any hyper-vigilance had gone, and they felt calmer overall. (32)"

I have found that drinking Melissa tea, while using Melissa essential oil on an aromapendant helps me feel much calmer doing accounts, and I am less stressed at watching fluctuations of income and expenditure.

Yet another aromatic mystery...who knows how or why plants seem to take such good care of the human world, but they do.
