A fantastic morning at Ulster Universityโ€™s Centre for Sport in Society, hosting over 60 stakeholders to explore โ€œA Research Agenda for Recognising the Value of Sport and Physical Activity in Northern Ireland.โ€

We were delighted to welcome Professor Simon Shibli, whose insights highlighted the importance of strong evidence in shaping policy, investment and the future of sport.

A big thank you to our partners: Sport NI, Northern Ireland Sports Forum, Belfast City Council and Ulster University Sports Services, and to everyone who contributed to such a positive and engaging discussion.

There is a clear appetite across the sector to better understand and communicate the true value of sport, and this event feels like an important step forward.

๐ŸŒŸAre you ready? What Should Be in Your Foaling Kit? ๐ŸŒŸ
Foaling season is an exciting time, but preparation is key to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both mare and foal. A wellโ€‘organised foaling kit allows you to act quickly and confidently if assistance is needed.

Hereโ€™s a recommended list of foalingโ€‘kit essentials:
๐Ÿ”น General Essentials:
โ€ข Towels
โ€ข Lubricant
โ€ข Longโ€‘sleeve gloves
โ€ข Scissors
โ€ข Vetwrap
โ€ข 1 metre of string (useful for tying the placenta if your vet needs to examine it)

๐Ÿ”น For the Foal:
โ€ข Bottle and teat
โ€ข Probiotic paste
โ€ข Umbilical dips and a clamp
โ€ข E***a kit

๐Ÿ”น After Foaling:
โ€ข A black bag for storing the placenta for your vet to check

๐Ÿ”น Most importantly:
๐Ÿ“ž Keep all emergency contact numbersโ€”including your vetโ€”somewhere clearly visible and easily reachable.

Being prepared gives your mare the best chance of a smooth foaling and helps you stay calm when it matters most.

Wishing everyone a safe and successful foaling season! ๐Ÿด๐ŸŒผ
