When helping organisations to address the escalating risk of aggression, violence and other behaviors of concern, specialist consultants, trainers and practitioners in this area of work must be aware of the presence of other unique challenges that maybe exacerbating the overall risk, ignoring such challenges is a dangerous pitfall.
Addressing identified unique challenges during training and or other forms of interventions is a necessary ingredients in risk management.
This week, our lead consultant and specialist trainer Abu U Idris spent the week with colleagues at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH) up-skilling hospital security staff, so that they are confident in supporting clinical colleagues maintain a safe working environment. They were joined by , Coporate Lead Nurse to create awareness and provide support to the delegates in her role and capacity as a TRiM Coporate Lead/Practitioner.
(TRiM) is a peer-led, non-clinical risk assessment process designed to support employees exposed to traumatic, high-stress events, particularly in high-risk professions like policing or healthcare.
Not only must risk assessment and Training Needs Analysis (TNA) form the basis of any review process, it must also take centre stage when designing and implementing training content.
JPUH is providing support to staff using TRiM. This helps to identify risks for people who may suffer poor mental heath following traumatic experiences. The Model, also supports non-clinical staff who lead and or contribute to the overall organisational incident response to spot the signs of risks.
