In my early years of teaching I worried about taking time off, what if no one came back?

There was also an internal pressure to prove myself, to show up, to grow my classes.

Rest felt like a luxury I hadn't earned. I felt too busy to rest. But is it actually fear that stops us from resting? For me, fear of losing students, being seen as lazy or inconsistent, of not being needed.

Ironically the more I teach myself to slow down and breathe, to stop and to rest the better I feel, I'm more present in class, I have more energy to create, more energy to learn, to be ME!

I slept badly last night and the lazy part of me reached for my phone and found myself being drawn into the depths of scrolling. Enough! Its 6am and instead I'm outside and this blessing came up on my daily reading. It's beautiful.

For me being outside is an instant way for me to reconnect and ground myself. Nature has such a powerful, grounding energy—it’s almost like it reminds us to slow down and be present.

Its not for everyone , a friend of mine is a biker and his way of reconnecting is jumping on his massive bike and losing himself to the rhythmic hum of the engine, the focus needed to drive the thing and the freedom he feels
