Osteopathy, Sports Massage & Nerve Entrapment

Nerve entrapment syndromes such as sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome or thoracic outlet syndrome all occur when a peripheral nerve is compressed or irritated, often by surrounding muscles, fascia, or bony structures. Common symptoms include pain, tingling, numbness and weakness along the affected nerve’s pathway. Conservative management, including manual therapies like osteopathy and sports massage, can play a significant role in alleviating these symptoms by targeting contributing musculoskeletal dysfunctions.

At the Leagrave Therapy Clinic, heated stones massage involves using the combination of heat and calming power of touch to create a restorative experience for the body and mind. The therapist applies massage via heated, smooth volcanic basalt stones on the body. The stones are warmed to a comfortable temperature that is tolerable for the client to avoid burns and used by the therapist in conjunction with traditional massage techniques.

Different techniques used with the warm stones may include effleurage, petrissage and frictions over trigger points which are areas of tension on muscles that have persistent, recurring or continued intermittent pain caused by injury,
tension or lack of stretching which can thus cause tension or illness.
