According to the U.K. Physical Activity for Adults Guidelines, regular exercise

- Benefits Health
- Improves Sleep
- Maintains Weight
- Manages Stress
- Improves Quality of Life.

It also reduces your chance of

- Type 2 diabetes by 40%
- Cardiovascular Disease by 35%
- Falls and Depression by 30%
- Joint and back pain by 25%
- Cancer by 20%

But for some reason you’re not doing any.

You must hate feeling and looking good.

There is no other reason not to exercise.

Find time.

In health, there are no ‘home run’ interventions.

(That Tongkat Ali, won’t save you from your poor habits)

For good outcomes, it comes down to basics done well x consistency.

Optimise only once you have the fundamentals.

Apply to any area of life.

Congratulations to Jordan Reynolds on taking his boxing pro career to perfect 6-0.

Huge win against a very tough opponent in a 10 round battle.

Only 18 months ago, Jordan fully ruptured his distal bicep tendon.

Combat sports are tough. Injuries will happen.

It is what you do after that counts.

Epic work Jordan.

You are grossly underestimating what you are capable of.

Ive seen people climb mountains with one leg.

But your minor calf sprain means you can’t do any exercise ever again?

You can do better.

Maybe there is a way.

This photo was taken after my 9th professional win as an mma fighter.

4 years prior I suffered a major shoulder injury in a rugby match.

It took 1 year to rehab.

The human body is amazing.

Don’t put limits on it!!

You can do it. Just make a plan and get to work.

We’ve helped thousands like you return to exercise after injury.

Yes, there are some specifics to get there but 90% of the task is about keeping them on psychologically.

You win the battle with the mind, the battle with the body becomes easy.

Failed…

Been having a think on your behalf.

Consider this.

If you hired a builder to build a house and shortly after it fell down would you think

A) the builder done a bad job?

Or

B) that it is impossible to build a house that stays upright?

Likely you would find a different builder.

The same goes for rehabilitation.

I’ve seen too many people over the years who believe they had ‘failed physio’ and exhausted all of their options when it comes to pain and injury.

When exploring, often it becomes clear that the patient had hardly scratched the surface.

Approach matters.

Find someone who can help.

Most people overcomplicate injuries.

When in reality, the recovery is often more simple than you think.

With the biggest barrier any one of us are likely to face being consistency.

If it’s the first time you have been injured you might not understand that recovering from injury can have its ups and downs.

The expectation of a linear day after day improvement is not only unrealistic in most cases but becomes the psychological road block preventing progress.

Make a plan, with some rules to follow and acceptable tolerances built in and then stick to it.

Iterate in the micro but stick with the macro.

Your emotions can hijack your attempts so remember that how you feel day to day is only one part of the bigger picture.

Don’t ignore these but don’t give them too much weight either.

Now go get it!

🤦🏻‍♂️ Crappy Little Exercises🤦🏻‍♂️

I think back to before I worked in this field.

I remember going to a physio with some ongoing back pain and he showed me some exercises.

I remember thinking, ‘What are these crappy little exercises going to do?’ 😳

Embarrassing I know.

So for a little while i resisted, I loosely followed the advice and wondered why I wasn’t really getting anywhere.

After a couple of weeks my physio had a word with me.

He told me to stop messing about (in different words 😆) and get out of my own way.

That the path to recovery was clearer than I thought and that I was the barrier.

I made a recovery and it turns out the exercises/advice and it’s progressions weren’t so crappy after all.

I learned my lesson.

Read this again. I don’t have to say any more.

Every year, our books are flooded with patients who injury themselves during their new year's fitness resolutions. To help you avoid this, I've put together a few tips for staying injury-free as you start your new or continue your fitness journey.

1. Start slowly: Don't try to do too much too soon. Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts to give your body time to adapt.

2. Use proper form: Proper form is important for preventing injuries. Make sure you are using proper technique when lifting weights or performing exercises.

3. Use proper equipment: Make sure you have the right equipment for your workouts and that it is in good working order. This includes shoes, weights, and other fitness equipment.

4. Listen to your body: If you are experiencing pain or discomfort while exercising, take a break and consider reducing the intensity of your workouts. It's better to take a temporary break than to push through the pain and risk injury.

5. Get enough rest and nutrition: Proper sleep and nutrition are essential for supporting your workouts and helping your body recover from exercise. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and eating a healthy, balanced diet.

6. Seek professional help: If you are unsure about how to properly perform an exercise or are experiencing pain while exercising, consider seeking the guidance of a professional. They can help you develop a safe and effective fitness plan.

Remember, it's important to challenge yourself and strive for progress, but you don’t want to be sitting out injured for the first 6 months of the year from going in too hard.

Don't be afraid of the occasional setback or injury – it's all part of the process and we will be here to help for sure.

Just make sure to listen to your body and progress appropriately, and you'll be well on your way to achieving your fitness goals.
