Rewilding Project.
We have received a lot of support with regards to this ongoing project, the benefits to our insect and bird wildlife will be amazing, however, there are always those that believe their views trump all others.
We are pressing ahead, the wildflowers will be seeded soon, this, we hope, will introduce colour, fragrance and hopefully joy into our cemetery.
If you have any queries regarding our plans for this project, please message or email us.

We are aware of the fallen tree, that has partially fallen across footpath W83 (donkey field).
We need to get a certified contractor in to clear it.
This will be done as soon as can be arranged

CCTV Cameras
We have been approached by Parishioners with regarding the signs up in the cemetery referring to CCTV cameras in operation.
Sadly, we have had to take this course of action, on the advice of the Police, due to the recent thefts of signage and notice board equipment.
The footage captured by these cameras will only be accessed when and if another "incident" takes place.
We are aware of the nature and sensitivity of the area, and i can assure you, it is not our aim to cause distress.
Our aim is to catch these individuals and pass all footage to the Police, this is their advice.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Clerk for more information.

When I started in the role of cemetery clerk in September 2022, I noticed that one of the main areas we needed to rectify was information sharing.
The Burial Board committee were already in development of a website, now up and live, which is good, however I thought we still needed another means of getting much needed information to parishioners, after all, not everyone has access to a computer.
So we have now installed a notice board within the cemetery.
This was somewhat delayed by thefts of equipment from within the cemetery. Sadly this had two knock on effects, the delay itself and the costs incurred by the JBB.
However, despite thoughtless actions of some, the board is up and will be updated regularly.

Claybrooke Cemetery serves three parishes within Western Leicestershire and Eastern Warwickshire, Claybrooke Parva, Claybrooke Magna and Ullesthorpe.
It is managed by the Burial Board and a Clerk.
The burial board consists of three parish councillors, one from each Parish.
The Clerk is appointed by the burial board and is responsible for the day to day running of the cemetery, primarily administration for burials, memorials, maintenance, etc.
The Clerk does not set policy and does not have voting rights.
Each parish pays towards the running of the cemetery, this "precept" is based on the population of each parish and the value therefore varies.
The precepts received from each Parish for the financial year April 2022 to March 2023 is as follows:
Claybrooke Magna.
Population 569 - £1.76 per head of population = Precept of £1001.44
Ullesthorpe.
Population 1053 - £1.76 per head of population = Precept of £1853.28
Claybrooke Parva.
Population 200 - £1.76 per head of population = Precept of £352.00
The total received from the three parishes was £3206.72
Part of the reason the precept was set up, was to allow discounted burials for all parishioners within the three parishes.
An example: a burial for residents of the parishes is £350.00, whereas if you live outside, the fee would be £825.00.
As an example of the costs incurred, the precept receipts covers the grass cutting bill for a year and a few small maintenance requirements, the cemetery raises other funds from within it fees structure.
The Joint Burial Board as it is known, was set up in 1858, when the existing Cemetery was consecrated and opened, St Peters Church Yard at that time, being at capacity.
The new cemetery extension, opened and consecrated in 2022, will be used going forwards, as the 1858 cemetery is now at capacity.
More landscaping is planned for the extension, including trees and benches, this will make it a nice quiet place for families of loved ones no longer with us, a place for memories, reflection and peace.
