Today, we mark the Centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.

A special event was held at Buckingham Palace to commemorate the legacy of Her Late Majesty, the longest serving RNLI Patron who held the role for 70 years.

Our charity is eternally grateful to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family for their ongoing support of our lifesaving mission.

Today, Wednesday 15 April, our long-serving volunteer Station Treasurer, Shirley Johnson, received an Excellence in Volunteering award for her outstanding contribution to the RNLI.

Area Operations Manager, Jason Carroll, visited the station to present Shirley with her award.

Jason says: ‘The Excellence in Volunteering Awards are rewarded to a select few volunteers each year to recognise their contribution to the charity and the hard work and dedication to the RNLI’s purpose of saving lives at sea. Shirley is an integral part of the station at Dungeness and the award is very well deserved.’

If you’re interested in volunteering, we have a number of roles available. Please email Dungeness@rnli.org.uk to find out more.

A huge thanks to Helen and Allan, who have become great friends of our station since meeting them on their fundraising challenge.

It’s thanks to people raising funds like the 238 RNLI Lifeboat Station Challenge, that we can continue to save lives at sea, hopefully for another 200 years and beyond! 💙🧡

We are delighted to announce that station dog Oscar has finally passed his Tier 1 assessment and is now competent crew!

Being the furry child of coxswain Jon Morgan, and a regular visitor to station, it seemed the logical choice to join the crew to help in our mission to save lives at sea!
