My journey to Sports Massage.

Welcome to Forest Sport Massage! I'm Katy and I am a massage therapist based in the Forest of Dean, specialising in sports massage and remedial therapy. Why?: My background of work prior to sports massage has been rather varied, however they have always been centred around helping other people. I have worked hands on in various care settings, I have played a managerial role within a care agency, I have worked in a hospital setting and most recently within the Ambulance service. I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and love to find solutions to problems so when I then found a love for the health and fitness industry, I just knew that I had to find myself a career that meant I could be my own boss and I could merge these passions and interests and then along came sports massage.... So whilst I was working for the ambulance service and raising two young children I studied and practised over 2 years to become a qualified sports massage therapist and have now been running Forest Sport Massage for just over a year and what an amazing year its been! What I do: I am passionate about helping people (did I mention that already?) whether its with postural issues from repetitive/strenuous jobs, assisting with recovery, injury prevention for sports, general aches and pains or increasing relaxation and wellbeing . The hands on techniques are incredibly effective at freeing up tight tissues which will release tension, reduce pain, balance posture and restore function/ range of movement in joints. You don’t need to be involved in sports in order to benefit from a treatment as the techniques I use treat the soft tissues of the body, which everyone has so pretty much any one can benefit from my therapy and this Is why I love what I do!
