Structural osteopathy is a hands-on, manual therapy that focuses on the musculoskeletal system (muscles, ligaments, joints, tendons etc that make up the structure of the body). It uses techniques like joint manipulation, soft tissue massage, and stretching to improve the overall mobility of the body and thereby helping the body's natural ability to heal and function optimally.
It tends to be a more physical approach than cranial osteopathy.
Both of our osteopaths Alexandra Orchard and Martin Van Zyl use structural osteopathic techniques as part of their treatment (Martin also uses cranial techniques -see earlier 'What is Cranial Osteopathy?' post)

Stay connected, keep your brain happy!
We all know how good it feels to share a laugh over coffee or catch up for a stroll -but did you know that socialising might also help protect your brain?
Research shows that people who stay socially active in mid to later life may be 30-50% less likely to develop dementia.
And simply having regular pleasant interactions, a chat, a meet-up, is linked to better cognitive performance.
Here are some suggestions to keep you social active:
Pick up the phone - reach out to a friend you haven’t chatted/messaged with in a while.
Get together for something fun: a board game, a walk, a coffee date - whatever gets the laughs and conversation going.
Try joining a community group, a class, or just say “yes” more often to invites.

Feel free to share or tag someone who brightens your day — because good company is good for the brain and soul
