Aegle Mind Hypnotherapy

Aegle Mind Hypnotherapy Cognitive Hypnotherapy for Young Women in The New Forest Area that are struggling with Anxiety, Low Mood, Insecurities, Social Anxiety and Transition.

The path that led me to where I am today has taken many twists and turns, but each step has given me something invaluable that shapes the way I work. For a lot of my teenage years I felt lost and disconnected. As I grew older my world began to lose its former colour and appeal. I lacked any confidence at all and felt like I was losing who I really was, what it was to be ‘me’. There are two key moments that helped me to reconnect with myself and find confidence, passion and happiness. The first was being convinced to take a yoga Class. The second, seeking out help from a cognitive hypnotherapist. Combined these two practices have allowed me to control the incessant chatter of the monkey mind so that I can rest more and more in the present moment, rather than worrying about the past or wishing myself somewhere in the future. My passion is supporting young female adults and women who are struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, perfectionism, or are trapped in cycles of negativity, to dissolve unhelpful beliefs and habits so that they can find a sense of belonging, purpose and self-worth. Through a deep and emphatic understanding I empower my clients with knowledge and skills to regain control over their own thoughts, feelings, behaviours and ultimately find happiness within their life.

Have you ever had that perfect moment to open up to your best friend, your mum, your partner, your therapist but the words seem stuck in your throat?

Perhaps you don't know how to explain what you're feeling. Or maybe you don't even know yourself.

Expressing emotions can be challenging, especially when we don't know exactly what we are feeling, let alone why.

We are taught from a young age that certain emotions are good, others are bad. That we want to chase some and run away from other. This leads to rejecting certain emotions or piling up guilt, frustration and anger when you don't feel those 'good' emotions enough.

Many people struggle in defining how they feel at any given moment.

A daily mental health check in is one of the best practices you can do to help you get in touch with yourself and your fluctuating emotions. You might begin simply like with the checklist above and over time your language and understanding of emotion will increase.

Let me know how you feel today by sharing a coloured heart in the comments. I have been ❤ this week but feeling 🧡

SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH.

It’s not just about taking me-time or mani-pedis or treat-yourself days. It’s about protecting your mental health. It's about honouring your boundaries. It's about preserving your energy so that you can continue to show up for yourself, your friends and family.

Self care looks different to everyone. There's no one size fits all approach.

For me it's wild swimming, practicing yoga, reading a book, going on a walk. For you it might be taking a bath, watching a film, doing some knitting. Whatever brings you back into a state of balance I'd self care.

What have you done for yourself today? Let me know in the comments.

Anxiety is natural and normal. When humans evolved we needed this stress response to activate flight and fight to help us escape from potential dangers.

These short bursts of adrenaline kept us alive! 💃

These days however, we live in much safer times. There are no wild tigers attacking us. We dont need to be on the look out for neighbouring tribes. The problem is, the amygdala (part of the brain 🧠 that triggers the fight or flight response) didn't get the memo.

It misinterprets every day challenges, like giving a speech, flying in a plane, being in a group of people, as life or death 💀 situations. If someone looks at us the wrong way the brain fires up our survival response pouring adrenaline into our blood stream making sure we're on high alert ⚠️

Now that’s the general theory behind anxiety. But of course, some people struggle way more than others. So what's going on? Swipe left to find out.

For a long time, I thought that struggling with anxiety was a sign of being flawed, weak. Or something that only affected me because I was quiet and introverted.

The truth is though, anyone can be impacted by anxiety. Everyone experiences anxiety to some extent from time to time, like sitting and exam, or in an interview room.

Like most things in life, anxiety fluctuates depending on our life circumstances. Anxiety looks different from person to person and chances are some of the most confident people you know have bouts of worry and imposter syndrome.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't feel ashamed if you are struggling. You're certainly not alone. Neither are you flawed or weak. And the good news is there are so many things that you can do to reduce anxiety. If you stick around I'll be sharing lots of tools to help you!

What have you been your experiences with anxiety? Let me know in the comments.

This is such a great and effective practice that you can use with any negative thought. It's the perfect tool to keep in your back pocket.

Give it a go, next time you catch yourself thinking something critical or unkind, ask yourself:

⭐ Positivity: "What would be a more positive thing to tell yourself?"

⭐ Realism: "What's a more realistic way of looking at that situation?"

⭐ Rationalism: "What would be a more rational or logical thing to say to yourself?"

⭐ Pragmatism: "What do you think is a helpful or constructive way of thinking about it?"

⭐ Preference: "What would you like to think instead when you're in that situation?"

⭐ Contrast: "What would be the opposite of that negative belief?"

⭐ Key Coping Statement: “If you were to sum up the essence of that key idea in a single word or short phrase, what would it be?"

⭐ Finally create a short affirmation that you can repeat whenever the old thought comes knocking.

Now of course you're going to think that I am bias for choosing Cognitive Hypnotherapy. But the research backs me up here revealing it to be the most effective (and cost efficient) approach. Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D reviewed the overall lasting success of various psychological approaches and found the following:

⭐ Psychotherapy - 38% success rate after 600 sessions

⭐ Behaviour Therapy - 72% success rate after 22 session

⭐ Hypnotherapy 93% success rate after 6 sessions

Verdict - Hypnotherapy really works and it CAN help you!

This is a question that I get asked all the time and perhaps you've been wondering too? There is a lot of myth and misconception around Hypnosis, what it is and isn't as well as what it does and does not feel like. For instance, the idea that the person being hypnotised is asleep or unconscious - neither of which are true.

So what does it feel like?

Well to some extent it's going to feel a little different from person to person. But what most of my clients would share with you is feeling deeply relaxed, wonderfully serene and highly focused.

Focused? I know - not what you were expecting right. But Hypnosis is a state of focus. You are in control. 💪

You might feel a sense of heaviness or lightness, even a tingling within certain areas of the body and your sense of time often becomes distorted, with minutes feeling like seconds.

I always invite my clients to come to their sessions without any expectations or preconceived notions of what Hypnosis should look or feel like. This anticipation, this effort to achieve a particular state can hinder the process. So come with an open mind to explore the wonders of Hypnosis. 💜

There are three basic principles when it comes to Hypnosis.

The first is Relaxing and Letting Go. The secret of Hypnosis is doing make believe in the same way a small child goes about it. You don't concern yourself with what "is possible" and what "is impossible". Forget all the rules for a while and indulge yourself instead. Now how do we let go of something that is so engrained in us? Through relaxation - when one's mind and body are deeply relaxed it becomes easier to let go. Breathing techniques, visualisation, meditation, yoga these are all great at bringing about pleasant relaxation.

The second principle is Imagination. Hypnosis is like an active and powerful form of daydreaming with suggestion. When you get engrossed in a book or a film it is almost as if we are living the story ourselves. That's what we want to do in Hypnosis. Make the suggestions come to life with colour, texture, sound, smells, taste. Imagine whatever is being suggested as if it were actually happening to you right now.

And the third is Allowing it to happen. The notion of trying is rather a subtle trap. Trying is intimately bound up with the idea of straining to make it happen. When you try you apply a special effort, a brute force. You push and you shove and you strain and you tug and you pull - anything but allow events to take their own natural course. Like going to sleep. Everyone knows you can't make yourself go to sleep. The harder you try, the more awake you become. Instead, you allow sleep to happen.

Because of the nature of these three principles, Hypnosis becomes an incredibly pleasant, calming and empowering experience.
