We often help clients with their pets, yesterday taking Janet and her cat to a Vet appointment.
Today we took the lovely Jeane to Lymington Hospital, a very spritely 85year old lady who told me all about her tortoise Torty. He is now the ripe old age of 90 and she's had him for 40 years! He's recently emerged from his winter hibernation and he's to go as apparently he chases Jeane and nips her trouser hem! Go Torty!! 🐢 💙 🌼 ⛅

Last week we had an outing that was all about knickers - our client Betty's word, not mine!

After a fall where Betty broke her pelvis, she's been living in a care home and was very keen to get back to her home, collect various belongings and gather up some more knickers!

It was an emotional visit as Betty hadn't been back for several months, but she was very brave and stoical, and focused on the list she'd written. We helped her gather the things she needed, loaded everything into the car, got her safely back on board and gave her a little hug along the way to reassure her.

It's these interactions that matter so much and are the heart of the Driving Miss Daisy service.

Double trouble at Lymington Hospital yesterday! In fact we took three separate clients there at one point or another. And in every case, we looked after each client for the whole appointment with our very personal, wrap around companionship service.

On arrival, we found exactly where they had to be, checked them in and then kept them updated as we waited. For one client, we bought a cup of coffee to help fill the time, for another we kept an eye on their possessions whilst they had their x-ray and for the 3rd client, we sat in on the appointment so they didn't have to worry about remembering everything the consultant talked about.

Hallelujah!!! The sun has put his hat on and has finally come out to play! And we've been delighted to help some clients get out and about and enjoy the fresh air. Down at Avon Beach lots of other people were doing the same thing and the smiles on everyone's faces said it all.
