As we celebrate our Patron Saint's day. Here are a few interesting facts about St George's.
1. He wasn’t English – he was born in Cappadocia (Modern day Turkey)
2. He wasn’t a knight – It is more likely he was a Roman soldier
3. He was a martyr – executed for refusing to make a sacrifice in honour of the pagan gods.
4. He never visited England – He became popular with English Kings Edward I and Edward III.
5. The dragon was added after – the story post dates the real George by several centuries.
