Over this 6 week course you will be gently introduced to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. We will start from the ground up, working with modified and simplified versions of the poses.

Ashtanga is a traditional and classical style of Yoga, linking movement to breath, and following a set series of poses that builds strength, flexibility, and peace of mind, and allows for steady and consistent progress.

This course will be suitable for complete beginners, as well as anyone already practicing Yoga but new to Ashtanga. If you have any specific mobility or health concerns, please get in touch with me prior to booking to check this course will be appropriate as although this is a course for Beginners, Ashtanga is not a gentle or slow style of Yoga.

Following the end of this course you will be given the option to continue booking on a half termly basis, with each half term having it's own specific focus and giving progression throughout the following year.

You will need to bring your own Yoga mat (3-5mm thickenss) and 2 cork Yoga bricks are recommended.

✨ The Benefits of Ashtanga Yoga ✨

Yoga apparantly isn't as fashionable as it was 15 years ago! So why, in the current world of pilates princesses (sorry 😅) should you choose Yoga, and specifically Ashtanga?

The Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga is called Yoga Chikitsa in Sanskrit, which translates as Yoga Therapy.

This beautiful series of postures is sequenced in order to bring healing and health to the body and this series really isn't just a stretch class, or just focused on building flexibility. It cultivates strength and stamina. In the standing poses we find the grounding of our feet and legs and gain stability. Through the series of forward bends we calm the nervous system. And through focused awareness of both body and breath we begin to develop a calmer, more peaceful mind.

I teach Primary Series with modifications and props, to make it accessible to everyone's level and anatomy (but beginners are better off in my beginners course in Jan). After a half primary series practice I always like to add in accessible but effective core and back conditioning work to ensure a well rounded practice that allows students to progress and develop their Yoga practice to including more challenging backbends and inversions.

Final week of TT day 3! Today we had lead a yoga photography workshop and mini photo shoot ❤️

Then 2 trainees Iveta and Mel passed their final assessments with flying colours, despite a lot of nerves.

Yoga teacher training is challenging, hard work, and at times emotional. With my courses there are no participation prizes, only authentic and well deserved recognition of achievement. I'm very proud of this group 😊

Wanna join me for Yoga classes in November and December?!

The current format is what I can only describe as Ashtanga (ISH). You get the classical half primary series but then we go rogue: core work, back bend conditioning, and a modified closing sequence. It's challenging yet accessible, it's practical, and it works. Student feedback so far has been really good, and I like it, so for now at least it stays ☺️

The new half term starts November 15th and finishes on December 20th. Saturdays 8.45-10am at St Marks Community Hall Pennington. £55 for 6 weeks, bookable as a half term block only, no drop ins. Open to everyone who isn't a complete beginner (any health or mobility concerns check before booking please)

It's nearly time to get back on the mat! Ashtanga Yoga Classes resume on Saturday the 6th of September with a new 6 week course!

This time round our usual Ashtanga Practice will have a stronger focus on core and back strength and really working towards nailing your headstands!

8:45-10 am on Saturdays at St Marks Community Hall, Pennington. Last 6/17 spaces available.

Suitable for those who are reasonably fit with some prior yoga experience although modifications and progressions are always provided.

If you're a total beginner the next course for you will be in January - the last Ashtanga Beginners course I plan to ever run. This is already bookable ☺️🙏🏻
