Try this Chaturanga drill 💪🏼

Start in a plank and push your heels into the wall. Keep pushing as you lower down and hold for a moment. Keep your shoulders back and down, extend through the crown of the head and out from both directions from the navel. Level 2: make it a push up!

Pushing the heels back engages the posterior chain and turns this into a full body pose while keeping shoulders safe and injury free.

P.S. my hands are never under my elbows and yours don't have to be either 💕

Such lovely feedback from yesterday's workshop with 💖

"A beautiful and deeply nourishing class with Zoe, guiding us through the subtle intelligence of Matthew Sweeney’s Moon Vinyasa Krama sequence.

From the very beginning, the practice held a quiet, almost meditative quality—inviting us to move not from effort, but from awareness. The sequence unfolded with a natural, wave-like rhythm, each posture organically preparing the body and mind for the next. It felt as though we were being led through a conversation with the body, rather than instructed through a series of shapes.

The energy built with such smoothness and sensitivity that strength and softness coexisted throughout. There was a deep sense of trust in the progression—nothing rushed, nothing forced—just a gradual, intelligent opening that allowed the nervous system to remain calm while the body explored depth.

The fascial release work was particularly profound. There was a sense of spaciousness emerging from within—layers softening, lines of tension dissolving, and new pathways of movement awakening. At times the experience felt strengthening and stabilising, and at others deeply liberating and expansive, as if the body were remembering its natural fluidity.

Zoe’s guidance created a container that was both grounding and expansive, encouraging an inner listening that made the practice feel personal and intuitive. The breath became a steady anchor, weaving everything together and supporting a sense of quiet integration.

By the end, there was a feeling of being both energised and lengthened, yet also deeply restored—like the body had been gently re-tuned and the mind softly cleared. A beautifully balanced and intelligently crafted sequence that honoured both effort and ease, strength and surrender.

Thank you, Zoe, for holding such a thoughtful and transformative space"

Moon Sequence classes are back on Monday the 23rd!

Vinyasa Krama: The Lunar Path
Softness, Stability, and Sustainable Flow

In a world that often demands we move at 100mph, the Moon Sequence (Chandra Krama) offers a vital invitation to slow down. Unlike the heating, linear nature of a traditional Sun Salutation, this class focuses on the "Krama"—the wise, intentional steps—to soothe the nervous system and build strength without depletion.
This practice is designed to mirror the cooling, receptive energy of the moon. We move through grounding postures that prioritize hip mobility, spinal fluidity, and steady breathing. It is an ideal "antidote" practice for anyone feeling overstimulated, physically tight, or mentally fatigued.

Why Practice the Moon Sequence?
Joint Longevity: By emphasizing circular movements and soft transitions, we reduce pressure on the wrists and shoulders often felt in standard Vinyasa.
Nervous System Regulation: The slower pace encourages the "rest and digest" state, helping to lower cortisol and improve sleep quality.
Lower Body Freedom: Focuses deeply on the hips, hamstrings, and lower back—areas where we often hold the day’s tension.
Mindful Presence: The repetitive, rhythmic nature of the Krama creates a moving meditation, making it easier to quiet the "monkey mind."

Is This Beginner-Friendly?
Absolutely. One of the core tenets of Vinyasa Krama is that the practice must fit the individual, not the other way around.

You don't need to be flexible or have a prior yoga practice to join. The only prerequisite is being able to kneel comfortably on your heels.

£50 for 4 weeks or £17.50 to drop in.

(No class Feb 14th)

St Marks Community Hall, The Square, Pennington, SO41 8EJ

Over this 6 week course you will be gently introduced to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. We will start from the ground up, working with modified and simplified versions of the poses.

Ashtanga is a traditional and classical style of Yoga, linking movement to breath, and following a set series of poses that builds strength, flexibility, and peace of mind, and allows for steady and consistent progress.

This course will be suitable for complete beginners, as well as anyone already practicing Yoga but new to Ashtanga. If you have any specific mobility or health concerns, please get in touch with me prior to booking to check this course will be appropriate as although this is a course for Beginners, Ashtanga is not a gentle or slow style of Yoga.

Following the end of this course you will be given the option to continue booking on a half termly basis, with each half term having it's own specific focus and giving progression throughout the following year.

You will need to bring your own Yoga mat (3-5mm thickenss) and 2 cork Yoga bricks are recommended.

✨ The Benefits of Ashtanga Yoga ✨

Yoga apparantly isn't as fashionable as it was 15 years ago! So why, in the current world of pilates princesses (sorry 😅) should you choose Yoga, and specifically Ashtanga?

The Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga is called Yoga Chikitsa in Sanskrit, which translates as Yoga Therapy.

This beautiful series of postures is sequenced in order to bring healing and health to the body and this series really isn't just a stretch class, or just focused on building flexibility. It cultivates strength and stamina. In the standing poses we find the grounding of our feet and legs and gain stability. Through the series of forward bends we calm the nervous system. And through focused awareness of both body and breath we begin to develop a calmer, more peaceful mind.

I teach Primary Series with modifications and props, to make it accessible to everyone's level and anatomy (but beginners are better off in my beginners course in Jan). After a half primary series practice I always like to add in accessible but effective core and back conditioning work to ensure a well rounded practice that allows students to progress and develop their Yoga practice to including more challenging backbends and inversions.

Send me a message if you'd like to join the final half term of classes this year. Starts this Saturday 15th Nov, 8.45-10am at St Marks Hall Pennington (Lymington, New Forest)
