In honour of International Nurses Day, the team at Linden House saw it fitting to make a surprise visit to the team at the Basett Ward at the University Hospital Southampton. The Bassett Ward is one of only a few specialist dementia hospital wards and cares for some of the most advanced dementia patients at various stages of their journey.

Armed with chocolates, hand creams, lavender bags (each handmade and sewn by residents) and a cake made by our fantastic chefs, we were able to surprise the team, who were delighted.

Residents Tony and Pam wanted to come along and happily chatted to the nurses, saying how grateful they were for them and everything they do. Pam explained she had helped to make the lavender bags and hoped they would bring a small sense of calm to a busy life as a nurse 🪻🏥

Our Home Manager, Priya, and Customer Support Advisor, Lee, had the privilege of presenting a donation of £400 to Oakhaven Hospice recently. The funds were raised at our Shine A Light community event, which took place earlier this year ✨

At Linden House, we see first-hand how music can support memory, wellbeing, and a sense of self for people living with dementia. This understanding is at the heart of our monthly Musical Moments sessions, open to those living with dementia and their carers.

With just over a week to go until our next gathering, we’d love to welcome you. If you can't make it this time, don't worry - the sessions are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month.

Residents Tony, Joan, Ann, and Peter enjoyed a lovely outing to Mayfield Garden Centre in Southampton recently, joined by Companions Sian and Chelsea and Home Manager Priya.

Run by Solent Mind, Mayfield offers a calm and supportive space with gardening activities and a welcoming café, which made it a perfect setting for a relaxed visit 🌷☕️

There was tea, cake, a gentle browse through the plants and shop, and plenty of smiles - with a few unexpected treasures found too, including our sparkly new tombola box!

Residents at Linden House enjoyed a lovely visit from pupils at Lymington Infant School, who joined us for an Easter bonnet parade in the spring sunshine ☀️ The children brought wonderful energy to the home, proudly showing their handmade creations and spending time with residents in the garden.

With help from the Easter bunny and Companions Freya and Chelsea, the afternoon included an egg hunt and bonnet judging.
