Hello, my name is Islay and I am a Sports Massage therapist . I have a happy, bubbly personality and I am often told I have brightened up a clients day. I have always been a very active person and my hobbies include the gym, horse-riding, sailing and running. I have competed up to county level in the track sport, Hurdles and nationally, Showjumping on horseback.

As a competitive sports person I understand the importance of keeping the body free from pain by ensuring muscles are working in the correct balance. This will optimise performance, with the added benefit of reducing the risk of injury. I am also trained in postural and movement assessment, which can help me to identify and treat the origin of the problem as well as prevailing symptoms.

I specialise in identifying and removing trigger points. Commonly referred to as muscle knots, trigger-points are localised areas of muscle contraction. They often result from overload to a muscle through exercise, posture or injury. They can be extremely painful and refer pain into a different part of the body, in some cases trigger points in the neck muscles can cause headaches. Without treatment a trigger point can become worse, the contracted muscle knot can become so tight that it reduces oxygen to the area, overloading the muscle further and continuing the cycle.
