are my favourite thing to treat, mainly due to the surprise on my patients face when the headaches refers from a muscle I am working …on which is often not in their head at all. After being misdiagnosed with migraines for years I made it my mission to find and treat the much more common and commonly misdiagnosed cervicogenic and tension headache. There are many more muscles that create headaches than you might be aware of. Remember you must find not only where is tight, but why is it tight. Analysing your postures and moment patterns is the first step to finding this answer.

Don’t be brushed off with a simple “fancy word” describing your symptoms back to you. Ask for the actual cause of your sciatic pain/irritation. (Sciatica).

Only by knowing what is causing the problem can you take action to speed up the healing.

So many patients come to see me for the first time excited to announce they have been told exactly what is wrong. That pain travelling down the back of the leg, it has been diagnosed, they have….. sciatica.

I asked them for the cause of their sciatica and they look at me like I have a third eyeball. I explain that it describes that their sciatica nerve is irritated.. but what is causing this. Similar to if you went to the doctor with an irritated and upset stomach and bowel and they diagnosed you with IBS, or you went with sore eyes that feel a bit like sandpaper when you blink and they diagnosed you with dry eyes… this is a description of your symptoms but what is the cause behind the description of the symptom

I often explain that here are layers or causation and a chiropractors job is to peel them all back
