Tiny, fluffy, and already full of personality — it’s been incredible to watch them hatch and find their feet. Nature really does have a way of reminding you what matters.

We’re keeping everything calm and cosy while they gain their strength, but we couldn’t resist introducing our newest little ones 🐥

🐔 Meet the Ladies – Introducing Summer 🌼

This is Summer — our beautiful Swedish Flower girl.

Unlike many of the retirement residents, Summer isn’t an ex-commercial rescue. She came to us after a fox attack took her flock mate, Storm. It had just been the two of them, and to save her from the same fate, the lovely Kay brought her here to live safely at Yewtree Farm.

Kay was worried sick.

We already had a flock of tough, no-nonsense girls. Integrating chickens can be brutal, and nobody wanted sweet Summer to be bullied.

Well.

That didn’t quite go to plan.

Instead of being terrorised, Summer quietly sized everyone up… and took charge.

She is what I lovingly call “the grumpy girl.”
Not unkind.
Just… decisive.

She doesn’t flap.
She doesn’t fuss.
And she absolutely does not tolerate silliness.

Somewhere along the way, she and Rose formed an alliance.

And now?

They run the place.

The two matriarchs of the Hen Retirement Home.
Nobody gets the better of them.
Nobody argues with them.

They are lovely girls.
But they are definitely the boss.

And honestly?
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
