I trained at the International College of Oriental Medicine, University of Brighton from 2004 to 2008. After I graduated with a BSc (hons), I moved to Shanghai, China to learn Chinese and study under Professor Pei Jian at Longhua hospital. In 2011 I moved back from China to study my Master of Science in Health and Rehabilitation at the University of Southampton. Thanks to the knowledge I gained from Professor Pei Jian, my MSc research project involved a placebo controlled pilot study using acupuncture vs sham acupuncture for upper limb rehabilitation following a stroke.
Since completing my MSc I have continued to work as an acupuncturist, and also in academic research at the University of Southampton where I co-ordinate research in cancer. I am currently undertaking a PhD that looks at lifestyle and colorectal cancer. I also am a proud member of the British Acupuncture Council Research Advisory committee.
