Happy International Nurses Day 💙

Today I celebrate not only my own journey in nursing, but every nurse who shows up every single day with compassion, resilience, and dedication.

For the past 9 years, nursing has shaped who I am. I’ve had the privilege of working across many specialties throughout my career, but surgical nursing has always felt like home. I’m incredibly proud to work as a Surgical Assessment Nurse alongside building my full-time business in aesthetics over the year’s, two worlds that may seem different, but are both rooted in patient care, trust, confidence, and helping people feel their very best.

Nursing is more than a job. It’s long days, emotional moments, teamwork, skill, empathy, and constantly putting others first. Whether at the bedside, in theatre, in clinic, or in aesthetics, nurses make a difference in ways that often go unseen.

To all my fellow nurses, thank you for your hard work, your kindness, and the care you give every day. I see you, I support you, and I’m proud to stand beside you in this amazing profession we hold.

Subtle mid-face rejuvenation using dermal filler to restore support where volume naturally decreases over time.
The goal was to help her look more refreshed, rested, and less tired while still looking completely like herself. 🤍

As we age, the fat pads in the face naturally shift downward and lose volume. Genetics can make some people more prone to hollowing under the eyes or flattening through the cheeks, and weight loss can accelerate this by reducing facial fat even further.

When the mid-face loses support, it can create:
• Under-eye hollowing
• A tired appearance
• Flattening of the cheeks
• Increased shadowing around the tear trough and nasolabial area

By carefully restoring volume in the mid-face, we can softly lift and support the surrounding tissue, improving facial balance and reducing that fatigue look.

This result is a great example of how small, strategic tweaks can create a fresher, healthier appearance while keeping movement and expression natural. ✨

The Story, The transformation 🥹🥰

This lovely client came to me for a consultation after struggling her whole life with under eye oedema. She had previously been treated elsewhere with dissolving complete in the cheek area in an attempt to reduce the swelling and puffiness beneath the eyes but unfortunately, this approach does not treat under eye oedema itself, which unfortunately left the client with a hollowing in the mid face.

So what is under eye oedema?
Under eye oedema is fluid retention and swelling in the delicate tissues beneath the eyes. It can be caused by genetics, anatomy, lymphatic drainage issues, ageing, allergies, lifestyle factors, or previous treatments. In many cases, the puffiness is not actually “filler” — it’s the way the tissue holds fluid in this area.

This is why dissolving filler alone often doesn’t improve the appearance. If the underlying issue is oedema rather than misplaced filler, removing filler can sometimes leave the area looking more hollow, tired, and can even make the swelling appear more noticeable due to the increased contrast between the under eye and cheek.

Instead of treating directly in the tear trough, we focused on a carefully planned mid-face rejuvenation approach using dermal filler to restore support and structure through the cheeks. By lifting and supporting the mid face correctly, we were able to soften the transition between the cheek and under eye area, reducing the shadowing and disguising the oedema naturally — without adding heaviness under
the eyes.

The result?

✨ Softer under eye transition
✨ A more rested and natural look

This is why a full facial assessment and tailored treatment plan is so important. Not every under eye concern should be treated directly under the eyes 👩🏻‍⚕️🪄

• Before (top): Previous filler (not my work) had migrated filler above and below the wet border, creating heaviness and an unnatural shape.

• Middle: We safely dissolved the old filler to reset the lips and restore their natural anatomy.

• After (bottom): A fresh, balanced result using 0.75ml of filler—enhancing shape, definition, and hydration while respecting the natural lip structure.

This is why choosing your practitioner matters so much. Lip anatomy is delicate, and overfilling or poor placement can lead to migration, distortion, and long-term damage to the tissue. A skilled, trained practitioner will know when to say no, when to dissolve, and how to rebuild safely for a result that actually suits your face.

This lovely client came to me for the first time, initially requesting tear trough filler. After a recent weight loss journey, she felt her under-eyes looked tired and her face had lost structure and support.

During consultation, we took a step back and looked at the full facial anatomy. Significant weight loss can lead to volume depletion in the mid-face (cheeks), which in turn can exaggerate the appearance of under-eye hollows. Treating the tear trough alone in these cases often doesn’t give the most natural or long-lasting result.

Instead, we created a tailored plan focusing on mid-face volume replacement to restore structure, support, and lift.
