Happy National Autism Awareness Day 2025!🧩

As part of World Autism Acceptance Month, today is an important day for promoting understanding and acceptance of people on the autism spectrum.

Autistic people face discrimination and barriers across all sectors of society. Speech and language therapists play a pivotal role in supporting autistic people, their families and carers to overcome these barriers by ensuring they have access to tailored information, guidance and resources as well as providing opportunities to explore their interests, develop skills and build friendships for fulfilled lives.

Bubbles are not only enjoyable but also a fantastic way to encourage communication and interaction. If you have a moment, give it a try with your child!💙

1️⃣: Gather your materials. You’ll need bubble solution and a bubble wand.

2️⃣: Show the AAC board to your child, point out the different symbols.

3️⃣: As you blow bubbles, model use of the board. For example, if they want more bubbles, point to the ‘more’ symbol.

4️⃣: Celebrate their communication, whether it’s through pointing, vocalizing or using the board.

It's National Apprenticeship Week! We are proud to support Apprenticeships within the SALT department.

"NAW 2025 encourages everyone to consider and celebrate how apprenticeships and skills help individuals develop rewarding careers, and employers to develop a workforce with future-ready skills. Together we will inspire the nation with engaging stories of apprentice and learner progression – sharing their increased confidence, skills, knowledge and how such programmes have kick-started incredible careers."
