We are a family orientated Chiropractic Clinic who strive to promote and improve the health and well-being of our local community and its surrounding area. Chiropractic is a natural and safe approach to help with many health conditions, typically including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, shoulder pain and minor sporting injuries. We believe that everyone has the potential to get healthier and happier and at Macclesfield Chiropractic we strive to get to the root cause of your problem. Your central nervous system is made up of your brain and spinal cord and it controls the function of every cell and organ in your body. As chiropractors our focus is the health of your spine which protects your spinal cord. Misalignments and changes to the function of the spine can disrupt how your nervous system communicates with your body. Warning signs of this often lead to symptoms such as pain and discomfort. Our aim is help your spine function better and allow your nervous system to communicate with your body with less interference. We do this with specific spinal adjustments.

What happens to our spine as we age?

As we age, the spinal discs may start to show signs of wear and tear. That includes
Water loss 💧 which can lead to reduced disc height….

The soft center of a intervertebral disc is mostly water, which can become thinner over time.

Reduced flexibility ✨🤸
If the space between the vertebral joints and disc narrow, your overall spinal movement may reduce.

Disc herniations 👀
Small fissures form in the discs leading to weaker areas, increasing the chance of herniating a disc. Usually by some innocuous movement like putting on your socks 🧦 or sneezing 🤧

Here are 4 tips for how you can influence and slow down this process
1) stay hydrated 💧
2) keep moving! Any movement is good movement, ideas include cycling, walking, or pilates. 🧘‍♀️ 🚲 🚶
3) chiropractic care 🦴 focuses on improving alignment and function of the musculoskeletal system, leading to reduced pain, improved range of motion, and enhanced overall well-being.

Liv our Massage Therapist has put together some simple, safe and effective exercises you can do during pregnancy, to help alleviate those pains and get you moving better.

➡️ Glute Activation - Clam shells
This exercise is brilliant for engaging your glutes and keeping them strong as your baby bump grows. Strong glutes help stabilise the body and help reduce the risk of lower back pain.

➡️ Core Engagement - Hug the baby
This is a really simple but effective exercise to activate your core and keep your deep core muscles supple and strong as your baby grows.

💥Sacroiliac joint pain 💥

The sacroiliac joints joins the sacrum (lower part of the spine) to the pelvis with strong ligaments.

Pain from these joints are commonly felt in the low back and buttock, sometimes referring into the thigh and leg.

Rehabilitation exercises are a great way to help ease pain, alongside hands on treatment.

We use a specialist pregnancy pillow which means you can lie on your front taking pressure away from your lower back and pelvis. It also means that someone can analyse your low back, pelvis and alignment accurately…

Chiropractors use a special technique called the Webster technique which focuses on looking at the pelvis, its alignment and helps to maintain balanced movements.

Throughout pregnancy hormones (relaxin) are released to soften ligaments preparing the pelvic bones for the birthing process and to accommodate your little one.

A busy active weekend of fitness and achieving set goals for some of our team!

Will did a partnered deadly dozen fitness race on Saturday 💀 .dozen

Lauren competed in a cross country championship at Heaton park 🏃‍♀️

James ran the Manchester half marathon on Sunday and got a PB🥇

Make sure you set goals that are achievable… Will decided to do a paired .dozen rather than solo as he hadn’t done one before.

5K before 10K, 10K before a 1/2 marathon for example.

Setting goals is great, but achieving them is so much more…! 😁
