Totally true that they are choices but I feel also a great challenge at times!
Often it’s the small daily build up that can bring you down. If you don’t enjoy your work or you work closely with a negative ball ache of a person, it’s certainly a challenge to remember the grats & maintain a positive attitude. But daily challenges like these make it even more important that you do.
I’ve experienced a most unpleasant colleague in the past & it was definitely a challenge! What I found though is that the more I appreciate the things that I appreciate, the less bothered I am by the annoyances. Focussing on, & appreciating the good stuff, really does bring more of it. And there’s the added benefit of there being less headspace for the negatives.
So, find something to feel happy about. It might come down to the absolute gift of being healthy, simply appreciating a coffee, enjoying a bit of banter with the nice ones, being thankful that you’re not the ball ache & don’t have to go home with them, that you have choices to change your environs etc etc.
Have gratitude for any highlight, acknowledge them with a silent ‘thank you’ thought. If someone holds a door open for you, think ‘that was kind’, if you enjoyed something ‘that was fun’- just start really noticing the good bits & expressing gratitude for them. Your brain will start looking for the goodstuff & paying less attention to the bad.
If you can practice this for a little while you can guarantee that your general feeling of happiness will increase, you’ll expend less energy on tolerating things because they’ll have less impact on you. The more you do this, the easier it is & the better you’ll feel. Your vibes will be so positive that no one would dare disrupt them!!
