Diwrnod 2/ Day two in delivering Creative Play sessions for the Gallery in partnership wit Powys Together - Powys Ynghyd and Newtown Integrated Family Centre.

Based on the animation work of currently on display in the gallery, we stuck, ripped, coloured and cut to create boxes of inspiration. This week was focusing on the light/dark elements, noticing the sun, moon and planets. The power of a plain box, resources and imagination creates the opportunity for magic💫

An offering for children and adults of ages with the addition of a loose parts area, large paper mark making and movement and dance opportunities.

Yesterday, i had the privilege of working with Oriel Davies and Powys Together to deliver two creative play sessions.

Taking inspiration from animation, O Dan y Wyneb, and the hypnotic voice of Casi Wyn, we followed the themes of earth, air, fire snd water.

Getting to see children explore, play and create in partnership with parents fills me with such joy.

We are doing the same again next week 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Sharing as many of my fellow Play Therapists provide therapy support through the Adoption Support Allowance.
Sadly, we don’t have access to this in Wales which makes accessing specialist therapy support even more challenging!

📢The DfE has opened a consultation on the future of adoption support, including the ASGSF, following months of campaigning by Adoption UK, alongside adoptees and their families.

The deadline is 5th May and anyone with an interest in adoption and kinship care can take part.

Proposal 2 seeks to strengthen peer and community support for adopted children and parents.

However it is strongly suggested that funding currently ring-fenced for the ASGSF could be used to fund this.

How will this impact your family?

🔗We've put together a guide which explains each proposal in more detail here: https://ow.ly/JIft50Yz27n

🔗Take part in the consultation directly here: https://ow.ly/4xec50Yz27l

Adoption UK will also be responding to the consultation and engaging with our members to feed into the submission.

I love this recognition from BAPT 💖🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Being a bilingual Welsh/English Play Therapist is important to me and the community I support.

Having a registered body that also acknowledges the differences in legal, statutory duties and policies also support our practise.

Diolch

From rolling valleys to bustling communities, Welsh Play Therapists offer children a safe, consistent, and nurturing space to explore their inner worlds through the language of play. Their work reflects deep compassion, creativity, and a commitment to supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, often during their most vulnerable moments.

In the spirit of St David’s words, “Gwnewch y pethau bychain” — “Do the little things” — Play Therapists understand that it is often the smallest interactions, the quietest moments of connection, and the gentlest acts of attunement that create the biggest shifts for a child.

Today we honour the dedication, skill, and heart of Welsh Play Therapists, who continue to make a profound difference in the lives of children and families every day.

💚 Diolch yn fawr for all that you do. 💚

What is SandStory Therapy®?

SandStory Therapy® is a gentle, creative, and non-directive therapeutic approach for children and adults (ages 8-88) that uses a sandbox, water, and miniature symbols to help clients express, explore, and heal by creating a visual story of their inner world. It acts as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious, allowing for the processing of difficult emotions, trauma, and self-awareness without needing to rely solely on words.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to find out more about this powerful approach to support wellbeing or processing of a difficult or challenging situation.
