Emily Bartlett Meditation and Creativity

Emily Bartlett Meditation and Creativity Accredited meditation teacher, certified mindfulness teacher, hand-knitwear designer, conscious creative, passionate hand knitter.

I am a registered and accredited Meditation Teacher with The British School of Meditation. I am also a Certified Mindfulness Teacher, having completed Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach's in-depth, 2-year, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Programme. My offerings are an invitation to explore time-honoured and scientifically proven tools to help calm a busy mind, ease stress and tension, and cultivate greater care and wellbeing for yourself, others, and the planet. As my personal practice has developed over the last 11 years, it has grown within the context of working in busy roles in the cultural and creative spheres. Through my offerings I share tools and techniques that I know to be of great benefit in enabling us to better embrace the present moment and develop more creative and clear mindsets, even in the middle of pressures or difficulties. Knitting has always formed an integral part of my life and I also design and make hand knitted garments inspired by the colours and textures found in the natural landscape of the Dyfi Valley where I am based. I work with natural fibres and yarn brands that work towards high standards in animal welfare, organic farming and production processes and with good social and economic working standards for farmers. Knitting and creativity is an essential element of my mindfulness practice and my approach to living a compassionate, mindful life.

Welcoming in a beautiful Autumn Equinox 🍁 pausing to reflect and honour this energy today in perfect autumnal sunshine.

I love how this turning point in the seasons can gently hold me, as I acknowledge where there is abundance in my life, as well as the lessons of past seasons.

Just as the trees begin to shed their leaves, this time of transition can help us to tenderly acknowledge what is shifting in our lives, and what we might be ready to let go of.

And just as trees begin to draw energy down to their roots for the winter months, we can use this powerful time to ground ourselves, connect to the earth, and set intentions to nurture steadiness and balance.

How are you honouring this autumn equinox and season?

Each day now, I’m noticing nature’s seasonal shift.

I’m watching the vibrant summer green of the trees slowly give way to the earthy autumn hues of yellow, rust, and amber. πŸ‚πŸ

Honestly, I’m not sure I'm quite ready for the change yet. Like so many of us, I feel that familiar tug of resistance, and a touch of sorrow as the long days of summer slip away.

It's natural to want to hold on to what's familiar, to seek this stability in a world that’s always changing. But the truth is, life is in constant flow: the sun rises and sets, day turns into night, seasons shift, galaxies turn, we grow older, people come and go in our lives.

This constant change can feel disquieting, even distressing during big life changes. But our mindfulness practice offers a powerful path to meet this flow with greater steadiness.

By paying attention to our direct, moment-to-moment experiences - sensations, emotions, thoughts, sounds - we can more fully recognize this truth: everything is in constant motion. No matter how fixed an experience feels, it's always shifting, moving, and fading away in a continual rhythm.

This direct noticing of change is at the very roots of mindfulness. And I've learnt that through practice, we can cultivate an ability to rest in an anchor of presence, a steady space within ourselves, right in the middle of it all.

This is what helps us meet all of life's changes, big and small, with greater steadiness. And over time, we can discover that this space is vast enough to hold everything that arises.

For me, this space of presence is where I find greater depth in my moment-to-moment experiences. It’s where I can kindly hold my resistance to summer’s end, while simultaneously embracing the autumn. 🧑

When life slows you down: an unexpected lesson in change. πŸƒ

I’ve been a little quiet on social media recently, taking some time to heal from an unexpected injury.

And sometimes life does just invite us to slow down. While this pause wasn’t planned, it’s become a beautiful opportunity to deepen my mindfulness practice and meet each moment, exactly as it is, with gentle awareness, patience, and acceptance.

Mindfulness has allowed me to sit with discomfort, listen deeply to my needs, and honour the rhythm of healing. I'm so grateful for the lessons that this injury is offering, and for the gifts of presence in my practice.

And I’m delighted to let you know that I’ll be back offering a Mindfulness session tomorrow morning at Wenlock Wellness Space too. πŸ’›
