If you managed to enter the SFI and are now looking for assistance in completing some of the actions within your application, here is how Cobb Agri might be able to help:

SAM1 - Test soil organic matter 🌱
We have a dedicated soil sampling team who are able to complete a range of testing options including GPS sampling.

SAM1 - Soil Management Plan 📓
Using your SBI number we can complete soil plans on ground entered into the scheme.

PRF1 - Variable Application of Nutrients 🚜
We're able to sample the farm on a per ha basis and produce variable rate recommendations for the application of N, P and K.

NUM1- Assess nutrient management and produce a review report 📑
We have FACTS qualified team members who, using soil sampling data are able to produce RB209 based nutrient management plans. We can also include best use of manures.

Lime spreading is now in full swing..🌾 over the past month we have been busy spreading pre autumn planting!

We are busy getting bulk products onto stubbles following harvest like bulk lime, Fibrophos PK Fertiliser & Gypsum.

Cobb Agri provide pH testing with lime sourcing and spreading services. The team use a network of quarries and trusted contractors, we can help source bulk agricultural lime or granular lime. We have a FACTS team at the office to help with compliant lime and fibrophos recommendations/nutrient management plans ahead of 2026!

Here's a liming table created to highlight the importance of getting pH correct!

The table describes the efficiency of fertiliser when used at different pH’s – with the price of inputs, it is important to improve efficiency.

Fertilisers and manure cannot be fully effective if the ground is not at optimum pH.

On Monday some of the team got to visit KWS in Lydney to see the Maize variety plots 🌱🌽

This helps us advising maize varieties based on end use and growing conditions for our clients 🐮

Are you compliant with soil sampling guidelines? 🌱

With the increase in farm inspections, it is important to remain compliant with soil and manure testing regulations.

DEFRA’s Farming Rules for Water requires cultivated land to be tested at least once every 5 years.

DEFRA’s definition of cultivated land, is land that has been ploughed, sowed or harvested at least once in the last year, and or land that has received fertiliser at least once within the previous 3 years.

We can also complete OM soil sampling that is required for the soils actions under the SFI scheme.

With harvest coming to a close for many, we've been busy completing lime plans and arranging lime to be spread pre planting!

The correct soil pH increases the availability of minerals and trace elements essential for plant growth and productivity through increased plant health, quality and yield.

Fertilisers and manure cannot be fully effective if the ground is not at optimum pH, major plant nutrients such as N, P and K, as well as Ca and Mg, show a marked reduction in availability in acidic conditions.

With harvest coming to a close for many, are you looking for a cost effective P and K source for this Autumn? Can be spread along with your lime applications straight onto stubbles 🎋

In the majority of situations Fibrophos PK Fertiliser works out cheaper than bagged P and K, its also contractor spread freeing you up for other jobs!

Fibrophos is a bulk P & K fertiliser containing both secondary and trace elements, derived from the incineration of deep litter poultry manure, which is used as a fuel for electricity power stations, the product is therefore a renewable nutrient source.

Fibrophos has the advantage of being able to release nutrients, especially phosphate and potash steadily over time, helping to build up soil indices.
