Our clinical IT system will be undergoing a major upgrade between 30 April 2026 and 15 May 2026.

During this period:

🩺 We will only be offering emergency appointments

💊 Please order your prescriptions ahead of time

📅 Routine appointments will still be available but with a slightly longer waiting time

We’re working hard to improve your experience and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

🧠💉 Meningitis Vaccines – What Parents Need to Know

At Bron‑Y‑Garn Surgery, we’ve recently had a few questions about the difference between the MenB and MenACWY vaccines, especially for teenagers and young adults heading off to college, university or travelling.

Here’s a quick guide:

🔹 MenB protects against group B meningococcal disease
🔹 MenACWY protects against groups A, C, W & Y

🍼 MenB is given as part of the routine infant vaccination programme.
If your child had it as a baby, they usually won’t need it again as a teenager or adult unless there’s a specific medical reason.

🏥 In Wales, MenB is not offered on the NHS for older teenagers or young adults.
If you’d like MenB at this age, it would need to be arranged privately via a community pharmacy or private vaccination clinic.

✔️ MenACWY is available FREE on the NHS up to age 25 if missed earlier.
