Hanne Main Reflexology

Hanne Main Reflexology Clinical Reflexology to relieve stress and support your body’s own ability to heal. I’ve tried to learn from the best people around to make that happen.

hanne main reflexology is a professional reflexology practice treating clients in Maidenhead and the surrounding area. It’s set up and run by Hanne – a Norwegian who has spent around 30 years in Maidenhead. laints and problems triggered by hormonal imbalances. I also practice Facial Reflexology and Zone Facelift Reflexology that add the unique opportunity to help clients look better, and even younger, in a natural way. MISSON

WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY? It's a complementary therapy that can stimulate your body’s own repair mechanism and help it function at its best. The body is an amazing ‘machine’. We might not notice it, but it’s working constantly; balancing hormones, organs, nerves and so on. When we’re healthy, each part of the body is working together optimally. Science calls this homeostasis – it basically means we’re in balance. In contrast; when we’re ill, injured or suffer from stress, our body systems get out of balance – and the effect can often be felt throughout the body. Reflexology is all about helping the body restore or keep its balance in a natural way. HOW DOES IT WORK? It works on the principle that different points on the feet, hands and face correspond with every organ, gland or structure of the body through our nervous system and zones in the body. In the foot, best known for reflexology, thousands of connecting nerve endings provide a ‘map’ with instant access to the entire body. Soreness or texture found in a particular area of the foot, indicates congestion in the corresponding part of the body. By stimulating these points correctly we aim to unblock and rebalance the areas of the body that are congested or imbalanced. FACIAL REFLEXOLOGY adds another dimension to reflexology. The face's close proximity to the brain and cranial nerves is a powerful route to impacting all our body systems. It is supremely relaxing and comes with a popular side effect - a glowing complexion. The ZONE FACELIFT pioneers a new way to look your best and age well naturally. It rejuvenates your skin and benefits your body at the same time, combining Facial Reflexology with Japanese facelift massage and facial smoothing tools including GuaSha and crystals. HAVING A TREATMENT
Your first treatment starts with a consultation covering your life style, stress levels and any health issues; past or present. It’s important that I have an understanding of this so I can tailor the treatment to meet your specific needs. During the first treatment I usually work all the reflexes on both feet to get a picture of what is happening in the body. After this, each session is bespoke. I combine a selection of relaxation techniques with careful focus on reflex areas important to each client’s circumstance as well as those essential to overall balance and well being. Well trained reflexologists don't claim to diagnose or prescribe, this should still be done by a qualified doctor. However, it has shown to be effective in alleviating many health conditions naturally.

April is Stress Awareness Month...

And I though I would kick off by sharing a link to the Stress Management Society who lead this initiative to educate and help people better understand and cope with stress.

While we use the word stress a lot, stress is not just a result of us juggling busy lives. It is triggered by many things, including physical or emotional trauma and even chemical imbalances in the body.

It also shows up with many different symptoms. For me, stress often shows up in the stomach, having difficulty switching off, lack of sleep and lots of muscle tension. It is common among people I see, for stress to show up as anxiety.

But whatever the cause or our stress, the body responds independently of our brain by triggering the 'Fight of Flight Response'. This helps us deal with the 'problem in hand', but if we stay in this state over time, or it is triggered frequently, we can run into health problems.

Perhaps we can all make another effort during April to recognise our stress and find ways to help our bodies return to 'Rest and Digest'.

You will find a much better explanation of stress in the link than I can give you 🙂 And great resources for self help so I will stop here.

No doubt, I will talk about it again in the context of Reflexology 🙂

I thought I’d share this sleep meditation that helped me improve my ability to go and stay asleep. I survived on very little sleep in my 30s and 40s, but in my 50s I find that’s not an option😅 This helps my brain be quiet and focused on relaxing.

I have shared it with some of you individually already, but as Calm always offers a free share after a session I thought I would put it up here🙏🏻 p.s this is not a promotion, just a personal share 🥰

Now this made me smile this morning 🌞 “My feet feel so light” is quite a common comment after a reflexology treatment. Although I have not caught anyone dancing out of here quite like that yet 😁Shared by the lovely Michelle from MKJ Reflexology who I trained with at Reflexology Academy London (a few years ago now..)

Reflexology has many benefits, including being supremely relaxing. Facial reflexology, in particular, puts you in a deep state of relaxation almost instantly.

I know this because I see it while treating - and I’m usually a bit worried when clients don’t drift off… 😉 But it is quite nice to see it in black & white in the *screenshots shared by a lovely lady after recent face & foot reflexology treatment (90 minutes, starting on the face before moving to the feet).

We can see she is in both light and REM sleep mode during most of the treatment. I'm not a sleep expert, but REM is classified as a restorative phase of sleep with an important role in memory, concentration, and mood. You still feel the treatment, but ‘you kind of drift in and out’. Several people recently said they felt like they had been on holiday at the end of the treatment.

Finding some strategies to reduce our stress and actively relax is important for all of us. While stress in small doses can give us extra energy to help us get things done, we’re not equipped to handle long-term, chronic stress. Better stop here though, FB is not for essays….and talk about the stress and relaxation another time.

All my regular clients are lovely!! But I’m sorry, this little lady was the star last week 🐶 Before I could set up, she was in the chair and lying down🥰

I’m making a few home visits for a special client who has developed drop foot due to prolonged bed rest in hospital this autumn. I’m drawing on my training in orthopedic reflexology and on fascia work in the lower leg to try to improve this. On doing some research, I read that an estimated 10% of people who stay in the ICU for over 4 weeks are expected to develop paresis of the fibular nerve. In future, I would definitely advise family to help with some exercises during bed rest to try to avoid this!! And I hope hospitals are aware of this 💫

Taking a moment in the garden to prepare to add hand reflexology and arm fascia release to a treatment this evening. Amazing to sit outside in the sun still🍁🌞

Mostly I work on the feet or face, but hands and arms are great if you have a job that puts stress on your arms & the upper body.
