Cast A Thought was founded by Dave Elstone, Helen Elstone and Nic Baggott, who were all driven by their passion for angling, their commitment to working with others, and their belief in the therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature.
What began as a series of small community fishing events soon highlighted the powerful impact angling can have on people’s wellbeing. Motivated by these positive outcomes, Cast A Thought Community Interest Company (CIC) was established in 2022, with Dave and Helen dedicating their full time and energy to supporting communities through fishing.
Today, supported by a team of volunteers, the organisation delivers a wide range of programmes and projects that use angling as a tool to improve mental health, wellbeing, and social connection. These initiatives support children, young people, and adults across the country.
Cast A Thought works in partnership with local authorities, police services, organisations, and community groups—creating opportunities, building resilience, and harnessing the benefits of angling for all.
In addition, John Alexander, owner of Catchy Bait, is proudly working alongside Cast A Thought to help promote its mission and spread the word—bringing further awareness and support to the positive impact angling can have within communities.
