We’re excited to share that, thanks to funding from , Marden Sporting Memories () will be heading back out onto the bank this year 🎣

Sporting Memories is all about using the power of sport to bring people together—tackling loneliness, improving wellbeing, and sparking conversation through shared experiences. Whether it’s reminiscing about favourite matches, players, or simply enjoying the rhythm of being outdoors, it creates a space where everyone feels valued and connected.

At Cast a Thought, this ethos aligns perfectly with what we do. Fishing offers a calm, inclusive environment where stories are shared, friendships are formed, and confidence grows—often without pressure or expectation. By combining the reflective, social approach of Sporting Memories with the therapeutic benefits of angling, we’re creating opportunities for people to reconnect with themselves, with others, and with nature.

🎣 Today was a fantastic day by the water!

We had the pleasure of supporting in coaching the leaders and young people from at Riverside Road Fishery, St Albans, as they worked towards their Scouts Angler Activity badge 🏅

From learning new skills to building confidence on the bank, it was brilliant to see everyone getting stuck in, supporting each other, and enjoying the outdoors.

There’s nothing quite like angling to bring people together—patience, teamwork, and plenty of smiles all round!

Well done to everyone who took part today 👏 we’re proud to have been part of your journey!

A huge thank‑you to the amazing staff and anglers at for your continued support of Cast A Thought. Your loose‑change donations have added up in the most incredible way — yesterday’s collection came to £342.87, enough to cover peg fees for 68 people to experience the calm, connection and therapeutic benefits of our programmes.

Your kindness helps more people find space to breathe and belong. We’re so grateful for your ongoing support.

What a brilliant final day at Puddledock Farm Fishery for our programme!

Puddledock was a brand-new venue for us, so we didn’t know exactly what to expect — but it quickly became one of our favourites. We spent our session on Island Lake, where the morning started full of bites and excitement before the fish decided to take a little break… then came back strong right at the end!

Every young person caught at least one carp, and it was smiles all around to wrap up an amazing week. 🎣

Huge thanks to Steve and the team at Puddledock for their warm welcome and support. We’re already looking forward to returning this summer for four weeks of fishing, fun, and new adventures with even more young people! 🌞🐟
