This week, a handful of our crew members SECURED their spot on a secure training course!

The group, mentored by their tutor Rakeem, were taught how to transfer mental health patients safely and effectively with numerous techniques.

The team were put through their paces and will now be placed on the shadowing phase of their training programme.

Well done everyone! Amazing work! 🚑

STOP. 🖐🏼 You're not alone! 🫂

Handy Prints have teamed up with Men-Talk.Uk and Kent Central Ambulance Service Ltd to work on a Su***de Prevention project.

We have printed these Su***de Prevention correx boards which will be placed at potential "su***de hotspots" throughout Kent.

We hope that these signs encourage distressed or suicidal individuals to seek help, letting them know they are not alone.

APPRECIATION

Here at KCAS, we really do think our crews are the best around. Their compassion and care towards our patients and their crew mates is absolutely second to none, along with their dedication to their years of service here at Kent Central.

Therefore we think a small piece of appreciation is the least we can do for their years of hard work.

So, from next week, our crew members will be receiving a 1 year, 3 year or 5 year certificate of appreciation along with a commemorative badge to thank them for their years of service.

We are so looking forward to giving these to our crew members. We hope they love them too!

Our second June employee of the month awards go to Vicky & Rachael.

Vicky and Rachael were asked to assist with the huge task of moving 6 patients from a hospice to a new care home whilst the hospice was having some building work done to it.

Vicky & Rachael were commended for their professionalism, sensitivity and their humour towards the patients. Ultimately making what could have been a very stressful day, as smooth as possible for both patients and hospice staff.

Rachael & Vicky have both been requested by the hospice staff to help return the patients home in 18 months time, once the hospice building work is complete.

Well done ladies! Incredible work from the both of you. 💚

Employee of the month - June 2022

This month, we are celebrating just some of our fantastic crew members who have gone above and beyond their duty here at KCAS.

We are ending the week on two gentlemen who have exceeded themselves in the month of June. Here are their stories.

Ryan was not even one week into his newly passed FREC 3 qualification when, what should have been a very normal, routined patient transfer, turned into a critical emergency within a few short seconds.

The patient whilst in transfer developed a catastrophic bleed to which Ryan acted promptly, calmly and with absolutely no hesitation to resolve the issue. After a few minutes, the bleed was well under control thanks to Ryan’s quick thinking and professionalism.

When asked by our control if Ryan was ok, Ryan replied “Its all part of the job” and continued on with his day. Absolutely amazing work Ryan!!

Paul (and Dave) were on their way to attend another patient when they spotted a young lady standing on the edge of a bridge. Paul and Dave quickly stopped the ambulance to go and help, ultimately saving the young woman’s life.

Paul & Dave then took the patient to the closest hospital where Paul left his personal number with an A&E nurse to be able to keep in touch with the patient, via the nurse.
The patient personally requested that the nurse send Paul a message, sharing how Paul & Dave have saved her life.

Incredible work from the both of you. All of KCAS are so proud.

We will be sharing more employee of the month’s later next week. So watch this space!
