📢 Protect Your Family: Why the MMR Vaccine Matters More Than Ever
The MMR vaccine protects against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella — three highly contagious illnesses that can cause serious harm, especially to young children.

🤒 Symptoms of Measles — What to Look Out For
Measles usually begins with:
- Cold‑like symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, and a high fever
- Small white spots inside the mouth (Koplik spots)
- A rash that starts on the face/behind the ears and spreads down the body, forming blotchy patches as spots join together

⚠️ Serious & Long‑Term Complications
Measles is not a mild childhood illness. It can lead to:

Pneumonia
Meningitis
Blindness
Seizures
And in severe cases, death

Recent UK outbreaks have seen children hospitalised with these complications.

This is why two doses of the MMR vaccine are so important — they provide excellent, safe, long‑lasting protection.

📍 Quick Note: Measles Cases in London
- There is currently an ongoing measles outbreak in London, mainly affecting unvaccinated children
- Over 300 suspected cases have been reported in 2026 so far
- Most confirmed cases are in children under 10

🧠 What You Can Do Right Now
✔ Make sure you and your children have had both doses of the MMR vaccine
✔ Contact your GP if you’re unsure — they can check and book you in
✔ Vaccination protects your child, your family, and your whole community

👩‍⚕️ Blood Test Results 💉

Just to let you know, our process for sharing blood test results is changing.

• By the end of March, we will no longer send text messages for normal blood test results 📱
Normal results don’t require any action, so once this change is in place, you won’t be contacted.

• During the transition period, you may still receive a text about normal results while we move over to the new system.

• You can view your results on the NHS App once they’ve been reviewed by a clinician.
It’s usually the quickest way to check them. If you currently don't use your online services, use the link below to apply 👇
https://www.yaldingdoctors.nhs.uk/form-application-for-online-access

• If you prefer, you can call the surgery after 2pm to ask about your results 📞

• If any results are abnormal or need a follow up, the surgery will contact you.
This may be a message to your NHS App, a text or a call from reception asking you to book an appointment, depending on what the clinician advises.

So no news is good news — and you may still receive normal-result texts until the new system is fully in place.
