Strength is important. But for many of us, especially those with hypermobility or related conditions, even well-intentioned training can leave us wrecked, fatigued, flared up, or even in bed for the rest of the day.
Pushing through strength exercises may seem like the best approach, but it’s not that simple sadly...
Hypermobility exists on a spectrum. Some people feel fine with conventional strength work. Others deal with joint pain, instability, fatigue, POTS, or nervous system dysregulation
And the standard fitness approach doesn’t always fit.
If someone asks your advice on how they can deal with their hypermobility, point them in the direction of a health professional who specialises in Hypermobility 😊
Supporting students in Yoga classes who have hypermobility is challenging. Start with communication, ask them how they are feeling both in the class and the day after.
