CHICKENPOX VACCINE NEWS!!!

Most parents probably consider Chickenpox (Varicella) to be a common and mild illness, but for some babies, young children and even adults, Chickenpox can be very serious, leading to hospital admission and tragically, whilst rare, it can be fatal. Beyond the health risks, Chickenpox also places a significant burden on families. Parents often need to take time off work to care for their sick child, and children miss valuable time at school or nursery.

Following announcements from NHS England, the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine for children has been replaced with a new combined Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella(MMRV). This is to help protection against Chickenpox for the first time in the NHS. The new MMRV vaccine has been added to the routine childhood schedule.

The Chickenpox vaccine is only available as a combination vaccine with Measles, Mumps and Rubella and cannot routinely be given on its own.

Many parents have been ringing the surgery to ask when their child can have the vaccination- therefore please see the following guidance. Please be reassured that Greensand Health Centre will contact parents when their child is due.

IT Outage Update
We have received confirmation from the IT Support Team that yesterdays's network issues have been resolved. We would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding.

19/01/2026

Good Afternoon,
Unfortunately we are currently being affected by an IT network outage. We do not have access to patient records including test results & referrals.

We are waiting for an update from our service provider who are working on resolving this issue.

You are still able to submit a triage request for both Admin and Medical queries via Anima and test results can be viewed on your NHS app.

Thank you for your understanding πŸ™‚
