If you could speak to yourself early after brain injury, what would you say?

Often the biggest lessons or the words we needed most come with time and experience. Progress in rehab can bring clarity that you wish you knew at the start.

If youโ€™re comfortable, leave your message below. Someone else might really benefit from your advice.

On Friday, came together in London for a company-wide away day focused on learning, adaptability and putting our values into practice.

From a real-world client challenge (no phones, a cash budget and plenty of curveballs), to showcasing incredible client outcomes through our Client Success Stories poster presentations and a crash course in the litigation process, it was a day that tested problem-solving, teamwork client-centred practice.

Huge congratulations to Jeena Eari, selected as our poster competition winner ๐Ÿ‘
And a big thank you to everyone involved, especially our brilliant โ€œclientsโ€ for their Oscar-worthy performances ๐Ÿ˜‰

After brain injury, cancelling plans is rarely about motivation or interest.

Recovery can be inconsistent, fatigue can be unpredictable, and pushing through can make symptoms worse. Choosing to rest or change plans is often part of managing recovery.

Recovering from a brain injury, or learning to live with one, looks different for everyone.

There is no one-size-fits-all. There is no timescale. There is no wrong or right.

Finding a way to live that works for you is enough.

These simple tasks drain your energy after a brain injury:

- Having a conversation with someone
-Taking a shower
-Getting dressed
-Planning your schedule
-Attending an appointment
-Taking a phone call
-Explaining your symptoms
-Preparing a meal

After a brain injury, your brain has to work harder to do the things you used to do easily.

This is something people without a brain injury simply don't understand. But you are not alone. You are not making it up, you are not exaggerating, your fatigue is real.

And fatigue CAN be managed.

Brain injury recovery is individual and multi-layered, your support should reflect that. Progress comes in many forms, big or small. At BIS Services we are here to support you on your journey, whatever that may look like.

Signs of a brain injury aren't always obvious.

After a fall or collision, symptoms of brain injury may not show up straight away.

Here's what to look out for:
- Headache, dizziness, nausea
- Confusion, disorientation
- Memory problems
- Sensitivity to light or noise
- Changes in mood
-Fatigue, feeling tired despite rest

Saving this post could help someone later. ๐Ÿ’™

Reminder: brain injury recovery looks different for everyone.

Some days all you can manage is to lie in bed.

Other days life feels less out of reach.

Cognitive rehabilitation is about recovery through your lens - your goals, your interests, your life.

Life after brain injury will look different, but happiness and fulfilment and growth are possible.
