The Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre has been created to provide a perfect environment to learn and enjoy the benefits of Yoga on all levels and classes have evolved to offer an experience of both face to face classes in studio and virtual classes at home. All teachers at the Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre are trained to a rigorously high standard and are registered with the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK), ensuring that we maintain purity and clarity of the subject. With over 100 years of teaching experience between our teachers, Maidstone Yoga Centre offers a range of classes from complete beginner to most experienced students. The Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre is an approved Iyengar Institute recognised as an Affiliated Centre by the IYA (UK).

Had a break from Yoga, and ready to return? Are you new to Yoga or looking to get back to basics? Our foundation class on Tuesday 9th December, 18:30-19:30 with Peter could be the ideal class for you. Introducing new and returning students to the principles and techniques of Iyengar Yoga. This class is a preamble for those wishing to enrol on our six week Foundations of Yoga Course (starting 6th January 2026) or a refresher for anyone keen to join beginners level classes in the New Year.

No matter your age, experience, or ability, Iyengar yoga meets you where you are, and Peter will guide you forward. With precise alignment, supportive props, and mindful instruction, every body can move safely, build strength, and find calm.

Enrol and (re)discover how Iyengar Yoga can work with you. Regular students are welcome to come along and enjoy an hour class reinforcing the fundamental poses.

NEW TERM STARTING 28th October! - Join our 6-week Iyengar Yoga Foundation Course designed specifically for beginners and those who haven’t practiced in a while. Whether you’re new to yoga or looking to reestablish your practice, this course offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and techniques of Iyengar Yoga.

Led by Peter, the course focuses on building a strong foundation by teaching the basic asanas (postures) and the correct alignment for each pose. We emphasise the use of props such as blocks, straps, and blankets to assist in achieving proper alignment, making the practice accessible to everyone.

Develop a solid foundation in Iyengar Yoga, enabling you to confidently continue your practice or progress to general classes. Our welcoming community and supportive environment make it a perfect space to get started.

Who is this for?
For beginners and those who haven’t practiced in a while. For students who have attended our Foundations of Yoga courses wishing to progress further. Or anyone who has been coming to classes infrequently and feels committing to a short course could be key to staying on track.

No previous experience is necessary.
Schedule: 28th October – 2nd December 2025.

Sequence to relief knee pain
The sequence is based on a program developed by B.K.S. Iyengar for the relief of knee pain (as described in his book Yoga for Sports, pages 90–91).
The sequence was presented and practised by Julio Dieguez Papi, a martial artist as well as yoga practitioner and teacher, who is also the model in her drawing.

(Please note that these sequences are recommended to be done only under the supervision of a suitably qualified Iyengar yoga teacher after consultation with your medical practitioner).

Today we honour the 11th Punyatithi (anniversary of passing) of B.K.S. Iyengar.

We remember his extraordinary life, his unwavering dedication to yoga, and the way his teachings continue to guide and inspire us every day on and off the mat.

Guruji’s work made yoga accessible to all, regardless of age, ability, or background and laid the foundation for the vibrant Iyengar yoga community we share today.
