Osteoarthritis 💥

This is a natural process that happens to all of us! It’s not something to be scared of, it’s something to work with rather than against.

Looking after our joints is so important when it comes to mobility as we age - there are lots of conditions that mean it might appear earlier than we expected and that’s ok!

There’s so much we can do. These are our top tips to get on side of our joints 🙌 🦴

✅ Two truths you NEED - You can’t use the ball too early in pregnancy & you don’t need to be pregnant to use a yoga ball in your mobility routine! ✅

These movements help open your hips, relax your pelvic floor, move and release your upper back!

🫁 Remember to breathe rather than count ‘reps’
🥳 Take your time
⌚️ You can do these 2-3 x a day or if you find one of the movements particularly helpful the re do that through the day!

⛄️⛄️TIPS for Walking in the snow & ice to avoid falls❄️❄️

❄️ Sensible shoes are number 1 (please avoid trainers if you can - waterproof, supportive shoes that can fit to your feet well.

❄️a hat and scarf will stop you tensing your shoulders up around your ears (which pushes your head forward) all the time against the cold

❄️ keep your head up and avoid being on your phone while walking - it’s easy to miss upcoming icy patches!

❄️before you head out and your body is nice and warm - do some stretches or gentle movements to ensure you’re body isn’t stiff before we tense against the cold. (Repeat when you are home and warmed up too!) - especially if you’ve been making snowmen! 😊⛄️

❄️ if you do fall - try and avoid out stretched arms

❄️ when your walking - lean forward slightly and pull your belly button in forwards your spine to help stabilise you.

❄️ short steps (even those of you with long legs!)

❄️ wrap up warm and relax your jaw! - unclench your teeth every now and then.

We are open 6 days a week and will do our best to have spaces available each week. Even more reason to act when you have niggles rather than waiting for that pain or restrictions to increase.
