I first had an interest in counselling when a close family member was going through a bad time with their mental health. I realised that there is not enough help for those whose loved ones self harm. I retrained as a Person Centred Integrative Therapist. What does that mean?.... well it means that I will use all of my counselling skills and theories together with my own experiences to help you to heal yourself. I have worked on an Acute Psychiatric Unit and in a Hospice. I have volunteered for Mind and Cruse Bereavement Service.
Counselling involves a great deal of respect and trust and this needs to be earned. This is why I offer a 30 minute free initial consultation. During this time we can discuss your needs and it also gives you a chance to get to know me and for me to know you. I realise that we do not always click with everyone that we meet, so I do not expect you to sign up for counselling sessions without meeting me first.
I promise I will give you 100% attention during our 50 minute sessions, I will empower you to find your own answers to troubles that may be bothering you. We will be working together using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and other interventions that I feel will help you. I may give you homework to complete between sessions, this is to ensure that our therapy sessions will be built upon between the next session. It also gives you time to process what may have come up in therapy.
I know what it feels like to have a loved one that self-harms and how powerless it can make you feel. I understand how anxiety can cripple you and stop you from going about your daily tasks. I know that depression can keep you housebound or even bedbound. If you feel like you would like to meet for a 30 minute initial consultation, either give me a call or contact me by email or message me on Facebook, I will get back to you as soon as I can.
