1. Beginner
For those new to Pilates or returning after a break
Focus: Fundamentals—breathing, posture, basic movements, equipment safety
Pace: Slow, with lots of instruction and modifications
1/2 & 2. Improver
For clients who have mastered basics and want more challenge
Focus: Building strength, flexibility, and endurance; introducing more complex exercises and transitions
Pace: Moderate, with occasional new movements
2/3 & 3. Intermediate
For regular participants with strong technique and body awareness
Focus: Greater intensity, advanced exercises, use of props, faster transitions
Pace: Dynamic, with less time spent explaining each move
3/4 & 4. Advanced
For highly experienced clients with excellent control and fitness
Focus: Complex routines, advanced choreography, minimal modifications
Pace: Fast, high intensity, challenging for coordination and strength
Progression
Clients move up levels as their technique, confidence, and fitness improve
Instructors assess readiness and recommend when to progress
