Thank you everyone who sponsored me. We managed to raise £1721 for the brain tumour charity, and I am so grateful. Arran is a stunningly beautiful island and quite hilly!! 100km completed. Over 9000ft of ascent over 2 days and perfect weather. 3 nights in a tent. What an experience. Thank you again.

Under the new lockdown rules of 5th January we remain open.

We are still taking extra measures to keep people safe.

We remain open for both routine dentistry and emergencies.

The front door will still be locked so we can control the flow of patients.

If you need an appointment you should ring the surgery 01622 753821

Update- 02/11/20

As far as we are aware, we will be opening as normal during the new lockdown.

The British Dental Association has issued the following statement:

Based on the Government guidance so far published our interpretation is that dental practices will continue to operate as at present. The guidance says that individuals can be outside of their homes for specific purposes, which include ‘for any medical concerns, reasons, appointments and emergencies’.

The guidance also says that:

‘A number of public services will also stay open and you will be able to leave home to visit them. These include... the NHS and medical services like GPs. We are supporting the NHS to safely carry out urgent and non-urgent services and it is vital anyone who thinks they need any kind of medical care comes forward and seeks help.’

Our view is that this includes dentistry, but we are seeking confirmation and will update you as soon as we have more information.

There is no reason why practices should shut.

Dental teams have risen to the challenge during the pandemic and are delivering vital care while ensuring the safety of both staff and patients.

It is with great relief that we are now allowed to start a staged re-opening of Oakwood Dental Surgery on Monday 8th June. However, we have a long list of patients who have called during lockdown who must take priority. If you need to be added to this list, please contact the practice from Monday 1st June so we can best coordinate our return to dentistry and safely help as many people as we can, as soon as we can.
We have made some changes to the way patients are seen at the practice to keep everyone safe, and these will be posted early next week, but it is important that you do not come to the surgery to make an appointment in person. Please contact the surgery by phone in the first instance. 01622 753821
If in the meantime you have any problems or worries, however small, then please call and we can update you on where we stand and what we can do to help. I shall still be monitoring emails and the answerphone over the weekend.

27/05/2020

We are still following Public Health England advice and offering a telephone advice service. We can advise on how best to deal with any problems you have and if necessary and appropriate we can remotely prescribe antibiotics or refer to an urgent dental care centre.
We are hoping things will change soon and as soon as they do we shall update this page and our website, so it’s worth checking back.

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I have always liked the outdoors but I have never appreciated it as much as I do right now. That one trip outside for exercise is suddenly a very precious part of my day. Thank goodness Spring is here!

I just wanted you to know that Oakwood Dental Surgery is here for you if you need us. We are extremely limited in what we can do (which is only right in the circumstances) but we can at the very least offer advice and guidance on what can be done, so if you have any worries please call.

At the moment, the Chief Dental Officer, the General Dental Council, the Care Quality Commision and the British Dental Association are constantly updating the guidelines and advice we have to follow, and it is likely it will continue to change for a while yet. So if you have any worries or doubts, however small they may seem, please call the practice and we can then give you the most up to date advice and let you know what options are available.

The phones will be manned in one form or another during normal working hours and extended to include weekends 9am to 5pm for advice. If we are, for whatever reason, unable to answer your call, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

At the moment it is unclear when restrictions will be lifted, so we are creating lists of patients who require less urgent treatment and who want to be contacted once more treatment options become available.

So, for now, concentrate on staying safe, healthy and keeping everyone else safe and healthy too.

Thank you for your time

Best Wishes
