What Does Abuse Mean to You?
Many people believe that abuse only qualifies as such when it involves physical violence. As a survivor of both a physically abusive relationship and an emotionally abusive one, I can honestly say that the emotional abuse was the most challenging to recover from.
This isn’t to undermine the difficulties of healing from physical abuse, as that can also be incredibly traumatic. However, I still vividly remember the relentless emotional torment of those hurtful words echoing in my mind 24/7. Even after he was gone, I found myself constantly thinking I was worthless, disgusting, and undeserving of love.
Does this resonate with you? I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop me a comment and let me know.
