We want to close the MenB protection gap for teens and young adults in the UK, saving lives and protecting people from the devastating impact of meningitis.

Recent MenB cases in Kent and Dorset have put meningococcal meningitis back in the spotlight in the UK. That’s why we have reviewed the latest public health surveillance data and recent hospital records – to understand what it can tell us about invasive meningococcal disease in the UK, including MenB.

Our analysis shows why closing the MenB protection gap matters:

➡️ MenB is the leading cause of invasive meningococcal disease in the UK, causing 81% or 387 out of 475 confirmed cases in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
➡️ MenB accounted for 100% of confirmed cases in 15-19-year-olds in England and 15-24-year-olds in Northern Ireland.
➡️ Published hospital records suggest a bigger toll on young people - higher than any single published figure.
