Anyone can drown, no one should.

Drowning prevention starts with you:
👀 Supervise children & don’t look away when they're near water.
🦺 Use safety equipment like life jackets & make sure they’re in place before going out on a boat.
🏊‍♂️ Learn to swim, or if you can’t swim, stay away from the water.
🌧️ Check the weather conditions, the depth of the water & the strength of the current before entering the water.
🚫 Don’t drink alcohol near water, it dulls your senses & can cause fatal accidents near water.

Remember! Drowning is often silent & goes unnoticed.
Watch for the signs when someone is struggling to stay afloat, it’s never too soon to respond.

“The diagnosis was brutal: the cancer was treatable but incurable. I was devastated.

“I was diagnosed with HER2-low de novo secondary breast cancer in July 2020. I’ve been on my first line treatment for 5 and a half years now, but Enhertu would be a future treatment line option for me, a lifeline.

“I’m a wife, a mum, a sister, and a friend. I contribute to society in so many ways: I work, I volunteer, I support, I travel, I love life.

“I was angry and upset when Enhertu for HER2-low secondary breast cancer was rejected for use on the NHS in 2024. Having worked as a nurse for 30 years, I put my trust in the appraisals system and as a patient it has let me down.

“In the 2 years since campaigning, I’ve lost friends and fellow campaigners to this disease. Women who had to spend their limited time campaigning for access to Enhertu when they should’ve been spending that time with their families.

“The NHS will soon be able to spend more on treatments, so I implore the drug companies to renegotiate an offer they can finally accept. To know there’s a drug that could help me live well for longer but isn’t available because of the cost feels so cruel. It makes me feel as if there’s a value on my life and that it’s not deemed enough.

“If Enhertu was available on the NHS it would give me and so many others more hope for the future. Whilst it may not affect you today it could well affect you or someone you love tomorrow.”

From the end of March, changes to the amount the NHS can spend on drugs will come into effect. Viv is urging pharmaceutical companies Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca to take this opportunity to submit a new commercial offer for Enhertu for HER2-low secondary breast cancer.
