FAQ: Can you guarantee a completely pain free birth?

I love this one as I’m asked this all the time and mums are so hopeful I’m going to say yes but unfortunately we can’t guarantee a pain free birth.

However, hypnobirthing teaches you how to release fear and stay relaxed and calm through birth, allowing your body to work efficiently as it’s supposed to and therefore it’s much less painful or not painful at all for many hypnobirthing women.

I always say, “Birth is always powerful, but it doesn’t have to be painful.”

🤔 Did you know that vaginal examinations aren't the only way to track the progress of your labour? 💭

Most women have a line, usually purple, that starts at the a**s and extends upwards as baby's head decends further into the pelvis.

This is a great, non-invasive way to track the progress of labour and give midwives an idea of how dilated you are.

Remember, vaginal examinations are invasive, uncomfortable and often stalls or stops labour altogether. They're also not accurate and can not help you to predict how long your labour will last.

And you can decline vaginal examinations, no matter how many times they tell you it's protocol. If you want an idea of how far along you are, get them to look for the purple line 🍑
