I'm in! I couldn't wait to show you the new place. Thanks to my other half for carrying pretty much everything ❤️ We enjoyed every moment and didn't argue at all 😂😂

Work has been pulling me in lots of different directions lately and I keep forgetting to post!

Last week I completed level 1 PROMPT training - expanding my tool kit for children with speech disorders and childhood apraxia of speech 💬

It gave me a new outlook on both assessment and treatment. I tried some of the prompts with a child this week and she was immediately making clearer sh, ch, j sounds 😍

I'm so glad I did it, and I loved exploring Hammersmith too!

Happy Halloween! Here are some of the activities we enjoyed this week 🎃👻🦇

A highlight for me was when a little boy got to look at a page on his AAC device that he'd never seen before. He loved pressing "ghost", and then interacted with the device much more than he has in recent weeks! That is why we teach fun vocabulary, as well as 'functional language'. 😎

It was a privilege to speak at the event for families last week, about masking in neurodivergent children 🌈

There were so many brilliant exhibitors and speakers, and it was great to see all the children and professionals who work hard to support SEN children under one roof ❤️

📣 NOW more than ever, it’s crucial to apply for an EHC Needs Assessment 💥

With all the uncertainty around the ongoing SEND reforms, one thing is clear: change is coming and not all of it may be in favour of families.

⏳ Right now, the current legal framework gives you the right to request an EHC Needs Assessment if you believe your child needs more support than what’s currently being provided through SEN Support.

But with constant headlines about new systems, tighter funding and reform trials rolling out across the country… 😬 We don’t know how much longer these rights will stay the same.

👩‍👧 Whether you’re just starting your journey or you’ve been considering it for a while, don’t wait. The EHC process can take time and securing a plan now could offer your child the long-term support they need, before any changes take effect.
