Residents recently came together for a delightful Cheese 🧀 and Wine 🍷 tasting activity. Held by our volunteers, Carol and Sharon, the residents enjoyed a lovely social occasion, chatting and relaxing, all whilst enjoying the cheese, wine and beautiful piano music performed by our carer, Mary.

“My husband attended the day centre before becoming a resident in August 2025. The staff in both the day centre and on the unit are always polite and helpful. The care is excellent. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities. These are available frequently. All staff are also very polite and friendly to me. You are encouraged to treat it as your home which is lovely. Any change in my husband has always been communicated to me, either by phone or in person. It is always easy to speak with staff if you need to. The food and choice of menu is excellent, and residents are kept well hydrated. I feel my husband is in a very safe place with excellent care.”

“My mother has just been admitted to Athelstan. She is bedbound and used to stare at 4 walls on her own 22 hours a day (2 hours carers 4x 30 minutes), although this is new to her. I have seen an immediate improvement in her mental health; she is smiling again and more like her old self again. She has mentioned numerously that she is so impressed with the care she receives, as well as how friendly everyone is, and the food is brilliant.”

Continuing our celebration of Activity Providers and Professionals Week, today we’re shining the spotlight on two very special members of our team — Julie and Gail! ⭐️⭐️

Creative, bubbly, and thoughtful, Julie has been part of the Athelstan House family for over 15 years. Always on the go, she delivers engaging activities and liaises with the wonderful entertainers who visit our home. 🎨🎤

Gail, our lovely Activities Co-Ordinator, is friendly, compassionate, and calm. Our green-fingered star, she loves spending time with residents in the garden, growing vegetables and tending to the plants. 🌻🥕

Julie and Gail each bring something truly special to our home, enriching the lives of residents every day through creativity, care, and dedication.

Thank you both for everything you do — we are so grateful for you! 🩷
