We’d like to update our patients regarding the current situation with the Meningitis B vaccine.

At present, we are experiencing a very high volume of calls, emails, and in-person enquiries from concerned parents. We completely understand your concerns and appreciate your patience.

Unfortunately, the Meningitis B vaccine is currently unavailable nationwide. We are in daily contact with our suppliers to try to secure stock. At the moment, available supplies are being prioritised for hospitals, and some Health Authorities have reserved stock for targeted use only.

We will provide updates here as soon as we receive any new information.

In the meantime, please remain vigilant for symptoms of meningitis, which can include:

High fever

Cold hands and feet, limb pain

Vomiting

Severe headache

Neck stiffness

Sensitivity to light (photophobia)

Drowsiness or difficulty waking

Confusion or irritability

Seizures (fits)

Pale, mottled or blotchy skin

A rash that does not fade when pressed (glass test)

In babies and young children, symptoms may also include:

A high-pitched cry

Floppy or unresponsive behaviour

Bulging soft spot (fontanelle) on the head

Refusing feeds

If you are concerned about symptoms, seek urgent medical attention.

To prevent medicine waste, we are joining the NHS on their campaign encouraging people to ‘Only Order What You Need’.

The NHS spends an estimated £300m on unused medicines each year. We need your help to reduce this.

Medicines waste happens when too much medication is ordered that isn’t needed, medicine is stockpiled at home or prescriptions aren’t checked before leaving the pharmacy.

We want to remind people how important it is to check what medicines they have at home before placing their repeat prescription order. With the support of our people and communities, we can reduce medicine waste, prevent supply pressures, and ensure the right medication is available for those who need it most.

People are advised to:

Plan ahead – Check their medicines before ordering repeat prescriptions
Only order what they need – even if it’s on their repeat list
Speak to our pharmacy team if they have questions or need support.
Unused or out-of-date medicines can be returned to any pharmacy for safe disposal.

We’ve seen a big increase in flu cases recently, and lots of people have been trying to book their flu jab. Due to high demand, our flu vaccine appointments have been temporarily closed, but don’t worry — new stock is arriving, and the diary will reopen on Wednesday! 🎉

If you haven’t had your flu jab yet, please look at our appointment diary from Wednesday onwards.
