Patience is essential for creating a supportive environment for those living with dementia who may find everyday tasks more difficult, whether it's counting out money in a shop, following a conversation, or getting dressed.

Lack of patience and understanding from others can cause people with dementia to feel like a burden, to feel isolated and excluded. Dementia Friends can make a real difference by learning about what it’s like to live with dementia and the simple things we can do to support those living with the condition.

Keeping Cool and Staying Safe in the Sunshine - Some Summer Tips 🌸

With the hot weather upon us, we're taking extra care to help our clients stay safe, comfortable, and cool. Here are some of the simple things we're doing- and you can try them at home too:
Keep hydrated with plenty of water and
cool drinks throughout the day
Stay in shaded or well-ventilated areas, especially during the hottest hours
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and sun hats when outside
Use fans and cool damp cloths to keep temperatures down
Offer chilled snacks like fruit, ice lollies
- and of course ice cream! (Always a favourite!)
For those living with dementia, extreme heat can be especially tough, so a little extra care and attention can go a long way.
Check in on loved ones, neighbours, and friends- a cool drink, a scoop of ice cream, and a kind chat can make all the difference
