Our Summer Solstice celebrations, involved many little aspects. From 'Sunrise' drinks, to traditional music in the back ground. Themed sunrises and Stonehenge imagery on the TV, to wearing flower crowns. We celebrated in the bistro, with themed drinks and summery ice cream sundaes. We had a painting station, using a montage of sunsets as inspiration. We then gathered as a community together in a circle around our 'fire' that we had made before during a More...Creativity session.
The aim was to have those living with us, staff and visitors alike, all connected with dance and More...Movement around the fire. We looked at circle dancing and traditional Morris Dancing, aiming to have some fun whilst having a go. Using our red, yellow and orange scarves and our drum sticks, we had a busy 40 mins, following routines that mimicked morris dancing. Including high fiving and clicking sticks with our partners either side of us. It was a lovely display of community.
We then gathered everyone together in the Bistro for a summer meal, designed by the kitchen in discussion with some of the people living with us. We had flaked salmon and asparagus salas, with potato salad. Followed by fresh strawberries, home grown raspberries and clotted cream.
