We are incredibly proud to see the launch of the new Dementia Café in Upton upon Severn featured by the BBC.
But for us, this story really began much earlier, with something simple and powerful, a chance conversation.
It started when Steve Vaughan, CEO of Worcester Warriors Rugby Club, kindly introduced us to Carol and the incredible team at the Worcester Warriors Foundation. Carol invited us along to visit their Dementia Café in Worcester, and we were genuinely in awe of what we experienced.
The warmth in the room, the support offered, and the difference the Foundation team were making to the lives of so many people living with dementia and their families was deeply moving. It sparked a real desire within us at Ashwell Home Care to work alongside them.
That led to two further meetings with the Warriors Foundation, ensuring our values were truly aligned. The shared passion across both organisations to make a meaningful difference in our community was immense.
Of course, turning that vision into reality required support, and that is where Ginny and the Bransford Trust came to our rescue, helping to fund the launch of the café.
We also owe huge thanks to Upton Rugby Club for providing such welcoming facilities, to the amazing volunteers who give their time and hearts to support those who attend, and to our two local councillors who joined us at the second event and have been championing the café across the community.
This has been a true partnership journey, built on care, trust, and a shared commitment to ensuring no one faces dementia alone.
We cannot wait to see what this café becomes for local families in the months and years ahead.
