🌱🌱Our inaugural women’s circle started today 🌱🌱

I thoroughly enjoyed myself meeting a gorgeous group of women and teaching an hour’s yin yoga. My heart is full šŸ’š

So excited for this. Starts on Wednesday. If you would like a place, we could probably squeeze in another one… let us know asap!

🌿 3 days to go to find, give and experience Compassion for self and others in The Malvern Women’s Circle. Find out a bit about compassion and why it’s underpinning all of my work.

The Yoga SÅ«tra teaches ahimsa — non-violence — as the first step of the yogic path. Compassion begins not with others, but with ourselves. Yet many women I see live with a relentless inner critic: ā€œI should cope better… I’m too much… I’m not enough.ā€

In circle we practise compassion as medicine. We learn to soften the inner voice, to speak to ourselves with the same gentleness we would offer a friend.

Research shows that self-compassion lowers anxiety and builds resilience, but more importantly, it feels like relief — like finally being free to trial authenticity...

Compassion is not weakness; it is real strength that chooses softness and reality over self-attack and striving for perfection.

✨ In 3 days, come sit in a circle that honours compassion — for yourself, for others, and for the journey you’re and we are all on - thankfully together.

Get in touch to see if places or a waiting list for next circle due to start early November! mymindfulcounsellor@gmail.com

Exciting things are afoot at Great Malvern Yoga. See Dee’s original post for details of our Therapeutic Women’s Circle and it’s also in the newsletter that’s gone out today.

More things are coming soon… including a September complete beginners course with Sam.

Women’s Healing Anxiety Course - Join us for 6 therapeutic, healing sessions of movement, calm & connection 🌿

Hi Everyone

If your head’s full, your body’s tense and you’re running on nervous energy most days — this is for you.

We’re Kat (No Ordinary Yogi) and Dionne (The Mindful Counsellor) and we’re bringing something gentle but powerful to Malvern this August- October.

A 6-week women’s course designed to calm your nervous system and help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more you again.

Each 3-hour session includes:

šŸŒ€ Movement Medicine (Kat and Dionne) – simple, accessible movement to soften tension and anxiety from the inside out designed therapeutically by Dionne based on ā€˜Movement Medicine for Women’s bodies’ developed by ā€˜Move with JuJu’

šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø Yin Yoga (Kat) – deep, supported rest to help your body remember how to relax (no flexibility needed – we’ve got bolsters, blankets and tea!). Therapy led input from Dionne on resting in the uncomfortable without panic

šŸ’¬ A therapist-held witnessing circle – where you can speak, be seen, or just listen — plus a chance to Ask a Therapist (Dionne, NCPS Accredited) with real tools for managing anxiety and overwhelm

šŸ° Tea and cake – because grounding yourself should feel good.

ā€œI can’t afford therapy but I need healing — this is perfect. I can’t wait to connect with both of you. Thank you for coming up with this.ā€
– from a woman already booked in
The model has been contemplated for months as to how I wanted to do this and it’s all come together in my head these past few weeks…

We’ve kept the group small (8 each maximum so max group 16) so it feels safe, welcoming and human.

This isn’t a substitute where individual therapy is needed but it’s deeply therapeutic.

It’s not just a yoga class either though there’s an hour of yin yoga and breathwork teaching, with therapeutic support and explanations, during the class.

What I’ve developed is something in between and is deeply linked to how I think we heal as women.

The class has been modelled to bring courage, connection and authenticity to us, through our bodies, brains and emotions. This is how I’ve come to understand the healing process as a women’s counsellor. I’ve adapted this for group.

For many of us as women, it’s the first time we might have a sGreat Malvern YogapThe Mindful Counsellorout pressure to perform, hide or be ā€˜unseen’.

If this sounds like what you need, we’d love to have you with us.

🧭 Starts 27th August 2025

šŸ§˜ā€ā™€ļø 6 x 3hr sessions

šŸ’· Ā£300 Standard Investment
Existing / Past clients £250

Who wants to come to this slightly impromptu gathering for the summer solstice on Saturday?

It also happens to coincide with International Yoga Day too.

6pm, location below.

Bring a picnic/snacks. No BBQs please! It’s too dangerous in this weather.

Speaking of which, it will be hot, so suncream, hats and water. And insect repellent.

Bring a yoga mat and a picnic blanket. A chair if you want one. Maybe a blanket or two for after the sun goes down. I will have some mats/blankets for you to borrow.

Also, bring some flowers/foliage if you want to make a flower crown.

You don’t have to do any yoga. I may have another activity up my sleeve if you want to bring a non-yogi with you!

I’m anticipating about 75 mins of yoga, food, flower crowns and then sound bath. All very chilled and loose-goosey. It may all happen in a different order! Let’s just get together and see what happens!

It’s free to attend.

This weekend, I did a thing with my good friend Jo.

We went camping, and cooking on an open fire, and discovering beautiful meadows and ancient woodland.

We laughed, we cried, we danced more than I’ve ever danced in my life. We chopped wood. We did a wonderful yoga class with my new friend

We were wild and we were free! I felt more present and more myself than I have felt in a long time.

I highly recommend to any of the beautiful women reading this. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with myself and with nature. I’ve made some gorgeous new friends. Can we do it all again next week, please?

I’ve been on an enforced pause since the early hours of Saturday morning, having somehow managed to get food poisoning/some kind of nasty stomach bug. There has been no joy in this pause. No beautiful moments.

There will be though! Joy is returning. There is joy in being able to manage half a banana on toast. There is joy in knowing that this too shall pass!

Hope everyone had a better start to the week than I did!

A few moons ago, it was difficult to find a yoga class in Malvern. There were only a few teachers in town, mainly teaching classes during the day. Now, Great Malvern is brimming with amazing yoga teachers. Great Malvern Yoga was born from Kat’s vision to create a space dedicated to yoga, where there are classes suitable for everyone, at times to suit our busy lives.
