📆 Next date: Friday 20th February - Spaces are limited to honour the intimacy of the shala, a small, home like space designed for depth, not numbers!

⏰ Time: 6.30–8 pm

📍 Location: Awaken Yoga & Wellness Shala

This is an extended evening practice designed for nervous system reset and genuine rest.

The session is rooted in the Himalayan integrated tradition of Sattva Yoga and combines gentle Kundalini kriya, pranayama, and longer held Hatha postures to support the body in slowing down.

We will influence our energetic body and directly stimulate the nervous system through our breath, and focused attention in presence! Accessing this state helps us move forwards towards shunya. Stability , inner quiet and gentle clarity of mind through presence.

This is a practice of stillness and restoration. to give our bodies what we NEED! not a luxury! A must !

The kind of stillness releases built up tension, steadies emotional reactivity, and restores balance across the physical and subtle body.

If your nervous system is overstimulated, your mind constantly busy, or your energy scattered, this practice offers a way back to centre. To the truth of who we are ( can you believe it 🤣)

We close with a crystal bowl sound relaxation in extended savasana, allowing the practice to fully integrate and stabilise.

This is time to genuinely stop performing!!

Time to rest without needing a reason and to allow the body to do what it is designed to do whilst in the space of deep rest. To repair ! 🌹

Work, children, relationships, self-care, responsibilities, and somehow, connection is often the first thing to slip.

Yet we are not meant to do life alone all of the time!

So for this reason this is so close to our hearts and we are so honoured to introduce our new monthly circle

🌹 Sacred Rose Sisterhood 🌹

guided by Emshanti yoga & Joanna Guest

This circle was Inspired by the Sisterhood card from the Medicine Woman Oracle which I pulled for myself during a ritual I did for myself

This will be a space to slow down enough to remember the power of women gathering in truth and safety.

Each two hour circle opens with grounding, nervous system settling, and a rose-infused herbal tea ritual for heart softening and opening medicine

Yoga shows up in many ways if we allow it 🪶

Sometimes it’s physical —
It encourages us to move our body, helping us to feel stronger, more mobile and more comfortable in our agility and flexibility. It can ease tension from long days, support aching joints and remind us to move with care instead of force. Some days it’s energising, moving our prana (life energy) throughout the body, other days it’s gentle — both are equally valuable.

Sometimes it’s emotional —
It creates space for emotions we don’t always have time to feel, or more so, want to feel! Through breath and stillness, we can release stress, sadness or overwhelm and learn to meet ourselves with kindness rather than judgement. Breathing through what’s heavy and giving yourself permission to soften into what’s arisen.

Sometimes it’s mental —
It teaches us how to pause. Quieting the noise and learning to pause before reacting. It helps us to notice our thoughts without getting caught up in them. Over time, helping us to respond more calmly, sleep better and feel less pulled in a hundred directions.
Moving out of the Flight or Fight mentality.

Sometimes it’s spiritual —
Not in a religious sense, but in a deeply personal one. A way of reconnecting with yourself, others, nature, animas, the elements and more. Offering the awareness to something deeper — a sense of connection, meaning, inner trust and belonging. A feeling of coming home to yourself.

And sometimes yoga is simply quietness —
Just lying down, lying still and breathing. No fixing. No striving. Just being. In a busy world, this quiet time becomes a powerful practice of rest and self-respect. Realising you don’t always have to be doing to be worthy. This can almost be the hardest one, but the most rewarding.

If we allow it, yoga supports every part of us,
not just our physical health, but our whole life. It can become a lifestyle, a way to navigate life.

We don’t come to yoga to become someone else. We come to meet ourselves, exactly as we are.

Hey lovely ones

I am back after a gorgeous holiday with my beautiful daughter and mum for my birthday yey 🥰 in the most gorgeous sands and people and culture of north Africa tunisia and It was perfect! Even the challenges that come with traveling with an almost 4 year old for the first time overseas 😆 but wow! Truly reminded me how we can get so caught up in life and how important it is to take a real break away from the norm of the busy and noisy lives and minds that's we all have!

39 years around the sun now , and feeling younger each year due to dedication to myself and honouring more than ever my needs!!

I am feeling refreshed and peaceful and so ready to come back to this space with you all with so much gratitude for so much !

So here is a little snippet and reminder into the type of practice I teach which has also helped me into who I am today , someone who has conquered so much and someone I am deeply proud of because of it all

Kundalini / kriya Yoga is not about flexibility or form at all!!

Read that again!

It is a technology available to EVERYONE of deep transformation.

These teachings are from my time and training I'm the Himalayas

By working with conscious breath, awakening the spine and our energy centres, and directing attention with presence and precision, Kriya Yoga speaks directly to the nervous system and to our entire being on all levels of our energetic body

This practice helps settle mental noise, cultivates and expands vital energy for real health of body and mind and refines our perception in our present lives to help us overcome our challenges, which can eventually be seen as opportunities!

Yes , seems hard to believe I know ! And it's taken me a very long time to feel and to understand and receive these benefits which is still an ongoing journey which it always will be and always should be as we continue to evolve as we are designed too. As a part of nature , as a part it all , we are not separate, we are it !

This practice is a lived experience that has deep capacity to completely change your state of being and eventually life!

A classic Himalayan style class from the kundalini kriya tradition designed to create space to listen and connect to our hearts

Focusing on the energy at Anahata ( heart chakra ) we connect to the hearts wisdom and the qualities of self love - self worth - self kindness and compassion

We work through the layers, and break down guards and barriers, peeling back the layers that keep us from accessing these states of real self love and acceptance

We come back to love for all of life , of all our experiences that have bought us to where we are now and where we are expanding into , maybe a new version of ourselves

We’re so excited to welcome Deb to the Awaken family 🤍

Deb found yoga later in life, discovering the practice in her 50s during a time of big change. What began as a way to find calm and balance soon became a deep passion, leading her to train as a Yoga Teacher in 2021.

Through her own experience of menopause and hormonal shifts, Deb was inspired to train as a Yoga Teacher, with a focus on menopausal yoga, yin, yoga nidra and feminine Intuition. Her style is bringing compassion, understanding and a beautifully nurturing approach to her classes. Her sessions are grounding, supportive and infused with a genuine desire to help others feel at home in their bodies.

Deb truly believes it’s never too late to begin again, and we feel so grateful to have her wisdom, warmth and lived experience as part of the Awaken community.

Understanding your energy with Emshanti yoga

Fridays from 16th January

A traditional Himalayan mediation class to help develop deeper self awareness and begin understanding the patterns of your own inner world, thoughts, and mind

This class will invite a slowing down to come back or begin moving into a deeper relationship with understanding ourselves

Through guided pranayama to calm the nervous system, we clear mental noise and create the focus and space required for deeper mediation and our inner world to arise and settle. Not for analysing but for allowing and noticing our patterns and tendencies.

We learnt to build awareness without judgement in a supportive and understanding environment.
